Current (SVN) development discussion thread

The border between Engineers and Artists are very blurry anyways. Many artists that are famous for their architecture are listed as Engineers ingame, for example.

What do you mean?

Is there any elegant way to suppress that super-annoying "Prosecution performed by ... " pop up? It gets up there even during autoplay

Some of the goals aren't doable under the current time constraints.
Look in the Prussia thread started by outofthebox.
You yourself have said that the game is balanced around Monarch and Normal before,
and I think some of the design focus should match that, with either more accommodating goal times or more lenient goals.

Also, have you fixed the French territorial issue?
Like I said before, the goal is doable, but I was occupying
at least 75/80% of Europe and North America, not 50%.

One thing that bugged me is that I couldn't discover the Printing Press (tech) with Johannes frakking Gutenberg. I mean if there was ever a GP that deserved to be linked with a tech...

As a side note... would it be possible to make the specific GPs linked with certain buildings and techs for even more power discoveries/builds/settlings and so on?

I filed him there because of his accomplishments as a scholar and philosopher. Italy already has lots of artists, and it's very difficult to tell for most Renaissance humanists anyway.

Well I have finished my changes to religion! (Save for protestantism with mass media and the missionary)

They are as I listed. Right now I'm a tad concerned that hinduism may be abit OP. So I boosted the anger with cow to 6. For islam and pig it's -4 happiness.

Here are said changes:

Catholocism: +2XP For Temple Buildings/-50% Production cost of Monestaries/5% Commerce for buildings

Protestantism: Stealth Missionary/10% commerce for buildings with Mass Media/+%10 City Defense

Orthodoxy: 50% Production Cost for Orthodox buildings/1+ Happiness with Incense/+2 Hammer for monestary.

Zoroastrianism: +2 Happiness for buildings/-%10 War Weariness/+%25 Culture

Islam: -%10 Maintenance/+1XP For Mounted Units (Mosque Provides +2XP)/+1 Priest Specialist/ +1 Unhappiness w/Pig

Taoism: %5 For Great General/+1 Health/+1 XP

Confuciasm: +%5 Science/+%5 Food/-%5 Maintenance

Buddhism: +2 Happiness/+%5 Great Person/Dirt Low Monastary Production Cost (XP Bonus Maybe?)

Hinduism: +2 Food (+1 Unhappiness w/Cow)/+2 Health/+2 Culture

Feedback appreciated

ack! Sorry I lowered the amount for Hinduism to one when I uploaded it. they now are an OP supermarket.

Granted all of these are VERY powerful buildings but seeing as every civ will get a boost I think it's easy to balance things out.

As for the free specialist I"m changing that to a great general boost of 5%

i can see this opening a huge can of worms

is this your own changes or something that will be added to the main mod svn?

if the former shouldn't it have it's own thread?

Because that would be overpowered :D

Would it be possible to make it not 1 :c5happy: per artist, but .5(or .25) :c5happy: per artist?
1 :c5happy:/artist allows infinite artists with infinite food.
With .5 :c5happy:/artist, and with 4 base happiness and no happiness buildings and such and infinite food, you can have 4 artists + 2 more from the happiness those produce, and then +1 more from what THOSE produce, for 7 artists total. In real situations this would remove those 4(+2+1) citizens from doing something useful, such as producing food to actually grow the city to size 7
.25 :c5happy:/artist only allows 5 artists.

take two :)...

Leoreth, could you please tell us how to suppress the Prosecution pop-ups?

@Ionlysignin. As do I.

@jammerculture. Not really. None of my changes are offensive are they? I don't see how any could be. Muslim nations were KNOWN for having superior cavalry forces. Catholic nations were KNOWN to have religiously motivated militaries, nothing bad in that. Now if anyone is offended by certain benefits please tell me. I really like the idea of each religion having a unique flavor but I don't want to seem motivated by any personal bias

I like it. one thing I dont like thou is that protestants bonus suck, but they should be the strongest because in the 600 AD scenerio, it makes no sense whatsoever to ever change to protesntantism as any nation. with their new crappy temples your proposing, it would make even less sense (eexcept after discovering mass media). I like the stealth missionary idea, but maybe add some more bonuses to protestantism, maybe remove the culture from their buildings but add production/commerce/trade?
And I think the hindu could get MORE food, despite what some1 else said. India/china suck, so adding a slightly "OP" food bonus shouldnt hurt anyone.
so how do I go about implementing your changes into my SVN version without breaking anything? just copy paste your files?

I'll disable them, they were for testing only, and I always forget to remove them.
