At this point there really is no reason to play Ethiopia unless you want an early religion, but that's all thanks to the Stele. A bonus towards larger empires never was any good and is now totally obsolete due to the great expanse.

Serenissima really isn't bad. Sure, you can't build settlers, but this frees up your early game to do other important things. The ability to make purchases in puppets plus having double the trade routes makes Venice unstoppable by the Renaissance.

I actually believe that Siam has the most powerful UA in the game, but somehow they got removed here before some of the weakest ones, in my view. Weird.

Great Andean Road is extremely powerful both as a military tool and as an economic boost, in fact being better in both areas than some UAs that are supposed to be focused on only one of those areas.

Druidic Lore is just way too weak. If only the tiles could at least be improved.

Edit: Uh.. is it just me or did Siam just vanished from the list somewhere on the first page? Well, I fixed it. Vote goes for Siam then.

As far as I can tell, Siam is at 21. It's just been unlisted by some sort of error.

The only reason Serenissima is so low is because VicRatlhead5199 doesn't like it, even though it's an objectively good trait. Leave it alone for now, there are much worse UAs to eliminate first.

Hey now, I've made sure to only downvote it every other day, if it deserves to stay it will. I'm not the only one who's downvoted it, just the most.

Sure the money's great late game but they're laughably easy to take out before the Renaissance while they're building 10 trade units, trying to protect them all and their thinly spread puppet empire all with only one city to build stuff with. There's a reason people call it a "pro civ" and are so proud of their LPs with it. It's a great UA around the middle of the Renaissance but it's awful before then.

Take tradition, give Venice +50% strength and make it tall? Use the merchant of Venice to take over a city state and all the troops associated with it? Sure, it may be hard to protect your early city state that you merchanted, but I really don't think it's that hard to protect the capital early game and get it to grow (and you can at the very least get free troops when you need them from a city state if you have a merchant). Late game I suppose everyone could cripple Venice by just having everyone declare war on the civ and take away Venice's trade route economy advantage, but if Venice is giving other civs trade route money, that may not be an attractive option for anybody until it is too late. Besides, that tactic just feels cheap to me anyway.

With an amazing start bias too, I don't think Venice itself has production problems or is quite as easy to take out as you say it is. The computer is pretty bad with Venice, but I've found it to be a really good civ.

Killing city-states is almost never a good idea. Pretty sure the UA is like this just because Mongolia is already overpowered with the Keshik/Khan combo so it would be dumb if they had an overly useful UA as well.

Maybe I am just unlucky, but it seems every time I play as the Mongols I never have horses anywhere near my start point. But there is always a CS that has them, the UA ability allows me to get Horses while building a military and saves me the penalties of building a settler. The AI quickly forgive that first transgression in my experience. To me it encourages the Mongols to behave 'historically'. I am not saying it is my favourite UA, although the Mongols are my favourite Civ.

America - Manifest Destiny - 5 The extra sight is nice for early scouting but it's benefits fall off fast. I usually use a mounted unit or a scout with scouting to spot, it just saves me from that. The tile buying is handy but is so outdone by the Shoshone and even just the tradition opener.

As Ethiopia I'd rather go wide and get the most out of the Stele.

Babylon goes up because science is so important. If the AI ever figured out how to make academies, then AI Babylon would be a serious challenge.

Basically worthless unless you start in forest, and the bonus goes away when you improve the tiles. Plus it forces you to pick a pantheon before you've explored around at all or figured out your surroundings, which is a disadvantage to me.

One bonus to venice that people seem to forget is that you almost never need to build military. Venice gets a bunch of up-to date, undamaged units for free every time it buys a CS.

EDIT: It looks like I got sniped and someone else killed Manifest Destiny first, vote shifted over to the Celts.
