After my failed experimentation with Napoleonic musketmen, it's clear to me that I can't mod the game on my own. So, consider this a "help wanted" ad for those interested.
Right now I have my eyes set on making a mod based on the anime and light novel series "Allison and Lillia." It's set in an alternate world with roughly 1930s/1940s era technology, where airplanes are newfangled, and two countries on a single continent have waged a century-long war. You choose between two countries, The Roxcheanuk Confederation (Roxche for short) or the Kingdom of Bezel-Iltoa (Sou-Beil for short), and have a choice to make: do you continue to wage war, or take steps towards establishing global peace?
Mod is just in embryonic stages, as I only have ideas and no files created yet in Modbuddy, and am not technologically inclined enough to do it right. However, if anyone wants to help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
