Hello,

I saw threads before about the great people calculations, but I wasn't sure if the calculation was the same for science. I suppose it'd be possible to calculate it myself by paying attention during a game, but I wanted to see if anyone else had already done this.

When tech costs are increased for new cities, is the formula:

a.) (base cost)*(1.05)^n

or is it:

b.) (base cost)*(1+.05n)

Thanks!

I guess it's "b"

At least it would be in the logic with other mechanics (culture penalty per city fe)

As far as I know it's a straightforward percentage point, like most similar modifiers.

Cool, thanks. If anyone knows for sure that'd be great, if not maybe I'll do a quick check myself! I agree that that would make more sense.

Remember the penalty scales with map size. Huge maps have a 3% penalty instead of the Standard map 5%.
