The Russians openly abused the term "Genocide", but was somehow right about "Ethnic Cleansing", as 30 000 refugees escaped northwards.

Russia has issued new, reduced casualty figures for the Georgian conflict, with 133 civilians now listed as dead in the disputed region of South Ossetia.

The figure is far lower than the 1,600 people Russia initially said had died.

Prosecutors say they have opened a case against Georgia for genocide, while Tbilisi has already filed charges of ethnic cleansing against Moscow.

The move comes as the first international aid group arrived in the disputed region since the fighting.

The seven-member team from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) includes a doctor, a specialist on civil protection, and a water and sanitation engineer.

Obviously, the Russians did what they did for long term strategic interest, the violent revanchism since their own self-inflicted loss of the Cold War.

I am not impressed, not impressed at all. Much of the Russian growth is due to high energy prices (Once again, thank you Mr Bin Laden and Mr. Bush) and us foolish Westerners stupid enough to invest in Russia, just to see our hard gained contracts, market shares and investments either being expropriated, extorted and stolen by either the state or the devils spawn itself.

How many Russian businessmen are killed in Western Europe and how many Western businessmen are killed in Russia. Numbers speak for themselves.

Russians, you have indeed a unique national character, and we wish you the best in your solitary future trade strategy, with Venezuela, Iran, Syria, China and Sudan. We have had it, and we are not letting the fifth columnist socialists disarm us and weaken our resolve!
 
Im slightly confused.. because where in the blue hell did the article mention anything about London, and why do you have Russian London Bombing in there ?
 
The losses, 2000 is 11 september loss numbers, 126 is more close to the bombings in London and Madrid.
 
Both sides lie in war. Russia obviously lied about the numbers.
 
Well, the Russians lost the little they had in diplomatic goodwill because of this. The Russians really needed those 2000 corpses to go clean.

The Russians got a dark prehistory, darker than most.

But the Russian argument hinged on those 2000 allegedly killed, which they weren't at all.

Also, Grimz seems to be a big fan of Russia, a big fan for a Brit at least.

Finally, I questioned the 2000, and said that they only way they could make it look like 2000, was to place those bodies (not necessarily kill them) or at a point correct their numbers.

I wouldnt consider myself a fan of Russia, i just see everything in shades of grey not in black and white.
Georgian military were a foolish, to mount an artillery attack on towns & villages with Russian Citizens, when Russia has the 2nd most powerful military. Call me crazy but i thought the Georgians brought this mess upon themself by giving a Goverment tired of western encroachment on their sphere of influence a reason to invade. I support sanctions against Russia, but doubt much will happen due to it being a Energy Superpower..

I see it more in shades of black and total eclipses. I have already written off Georgians as crazy romantic idiots and violent mountain people. However, the Russians are not merely making sure Ossetia and Abkhasia become theirs, they wreck a country with a 12 % economic growth, and spread the conflict to Syria, Crimea, Iran, Cuba and so on. The Russians should lose big time due to this.

How are they spreading conflict to Syria, crimea and Cuba?
Russia has no connections with Cuba nowdays, and for Iran all i can see is Russia using its veto in the UN against sanctions.

Then you are not as up-to date as you presume to be. I give you 48 hours to read up on Russian approaches to Cuba, Syria, Crimea and Iran.

I dislike a country which lead a coalition invading two countries, destabilizing the regions further, with no plan what to do after the war, where the democracy has little chance of surviving, where the war effects have been spilled over to neighbouring countries such as Pakistan & Turkey. Then theres the fact George Bush & his fanbase want to do the same to Iran.
I favour goverments with restraint.

A nation's "pre-history" should not be relevant at all. Its history is the only thing that matters. Russia's history is not dark.

Like I said in the other thread: I'm pretty sure if a nation's government willingly attacked and killed 133 American citizens, nobody would care! It's only 133! It's not, like, 2000 or something.

Again are they true Russian citizens, or Georgian citizens given Russian citizenship to help support their struggle for independence?

It makes a big difference. It makes all the difference in the world. Imagine if the US gave Georgians citizenship, then invaded Russia because Russia invaded Georgia and attacked US citizens?

Should countries no longer be allowed to protect their own citizens? After all, it could just be a huge conspiracy plan.

Let's suppose the government of Iraq was responsible for 9/11 and this is known right away. Should the U.S. not invade Iraq right after 9/11? After all, did Iraq truly commit 9/11, or were they framed for it by the United States government?

It makes a difference: imagine if the U.S. could do the same thing and frame any other country for a 9/11-like attack. Would it be right that the United States government would be able to get a causus belli for any invasion whatsoever?
