Welcome to the thread for the upcoming "Yugoslav Wars" mod. DISCLAIMER: As with any war, this may be a sensitive topic so let's not make this thread too political, let's just enjoy the game.

This is a WIP mod still in it's early stages that will recreate the wars in Yugoslavia as accurately as possible in Civilization 4 BTS.
As you can see it will run from 1991-1995 and will therefore not include the Kosovo conflict (1998-99). It is possible that if this
mod is received successfully then a Part 2 will be made to include the Kosovo Conflict.

The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia lasted from 1943-1992. It was a federation consisting of 6 Socialist Republics:
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, and Serbia (with two autonomous provinces: Kosovo and Vojvodina).
Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, and Bosnia declared Independence in 1991, leaving Serbia and Montenegro in the Former Yugoslavia. Diplomatic talks between the 6 republics began chaired by Lord Carrington, in which all of them except Serbia agreed that Yugoslavia had collapsed. Serbia was outraged by Montenegro's decision to accept the collapse as they had been close allies. It was discovered that Montenegro had been offered quick access into the European Community by Italy if Montenegro agreed to the termination of Yugoslavia. The Serbian government pressured Montenegro to back down and rescind the position, and thus Serbia and Montenegro agreed that Yugoslavia should continue. They created a new state, Serbia & Montenegro (officially the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia). With 5 new republics, 3 breakaway republics (see below), and rising ethnic tensions, war broke out across Yugoslavia. That is a simplified chain of events so as always, if you want to know more, the internet is your best friend.

The mod is a full war scenario, with events happening as accurately as possible. There will be a total of 10 civilizations, 5 of which will be playable,
2 of which will not be playable, and another 3 of which will be vassal states.

  • There is no set release date as we are working on it as and when we get time.
  • People are more than welcome to get in touch if they have modding experience and want to get involved with the mod. The more the merrier. Currently, TrentonC and I are working on it.
  • For simplicity, I have named the leaders of the Civilizations as they were when war broke out (i.e when the states declared independence)

Not sure why there is no comments?

Haven't seen a mod on the Yugoslav Wars anywhere yet. Being from over there I have heard a lot about the brutality.

Because it is a WIP in early stages?
Maybe people have doubts whether it can be completed successfully :D

Anyway, isn't it in the wrong section since there isn't a download link

That is why we began making it, as there doesn't seem to be one anywhere for Civ 4.

We are currently finishing off the Civilizations, Units and Buildings, and are going to begin work on the Scenario. Pictures will be up soon.

For anyone interested, this mod is still a WIP and we will be continuing work in the summer when I have more free time.

Anyone is welcome to join us in creating the mod.

I'm not too experienced beyond XML, but I'm good with history and programming in XML and worldbuilder so I'll help if you're interested.

Just send me a message, I might not see this thread again for a while
