Contact Amazon?
Hi,
I just purchased Civ IV complete series from amazon as PC download. After downloading I am trying to install, but can not. I am using window 7 home premium version.

I found the information here (I hope it's okay for me to post this link - it wasn't easy to find via Google):

I ran the two commands listed from a command prompt with admin privs and was then able to run Civ4:
sc config secdrv start= demand
sc start secdrv
I assume that to be safe it should be stopped and then again disabled after running the game. Probably a good candidate for a couple of batch files.
1.Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2.Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\secdrv
3.Right-click Start, and then click Modify.
4.In the Value data box, do one of the following: Type 4 to disable the drivers service, and then click OK.
Type 3 to set the drivers service to manual, and then click OK.
Type 2 to set the drivers service to automatic, and then click OK.
5.Exit Registry Editor.

I have downloaded that patch via this forum and Gamewatcher, but that file is corrupt and will not decompress.Installing Civ IV on Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 /10
NOTE: Vanilla and Warlords no longer run on these versions due to changes to security, however BTS runs well with 3.19 patch. - However this workaround may work - and this tip
Oh I forget to add that I don't install warlord and BTS
Thank you s.bernbaum for the infoMicrosoft released a patch to Windows 7 in September 2016 that, among other things, prevents discs using the copy protection scheme that CIV uses from being accessed. Windows 10 does this as well. It prevents disc based games, such as all versions of disc based CIV from launching. Have a look at the thread in this forum titled "Please login with administrator privileges and try again" for an explanation, discussion, and a few work arounds to allow you to once again access your discs. For Windows 10 there may or may ot be a work around. Most people have dealt with this either by getting a non disk version from GOG or another online source or by running only BTS and patching it to version 3.19, which does not need disc access to run.
