TarcisioCM's Civilizations

see that picture weirded me out at first because it looked either like a disfigured foot with finger-like hands or a disfigured hand with a weird bony heel

Bird is the word.

Now about this leader.

There are many words to describe him. I would say he's a based dude. The Pope would probably not. But what do the Pope knows, anyway?

i have prepared a small poem for him

He was just a guy who lived his life
and loved his falcons
He killed some people
and crusaded dem saracens
They see him blasfemin'
They hatin'

Gotta be some sort of Steppes civ. Kazakhstan?

Oh, you posted another at the same time I did. Alternate Byzantium, maybe?

Ah yes, gave too many clues the second time :hammer2:

Was skeptic, made a successful crusade using mostly diplomacy while being excommunicated, tolerant and was spittin at them Mongols.

I approve.

Those Habsburgs got nothing, Hohenstaufen emperors best emperors. Also, fun fact: His grandfathers are Roger II of Sicily and Frederick I Barbarossa.

Now, here is the leaderscreen in its full birdly glory:
Spoiler :

Had to copy-paste some guy's face instead of doing one on my own due to frustation pls no judge the rest is full pure collage ):

Updates to follow :D

That's Ben Whishaw.

No, seriously, that's Ben Whishaw in regal robes and that's awesome because here he is being one of the best Richard IIs I've ever had the pleasure of seeing:-

He's also Q in the most recent Bond film but screw that nonsense, Shakespeare uber alles!

LOL haha, found him searching for frederick II... Oh well, google sometimes heh. I should probably change his face then.

Edit: How about this:

Alright, updates! I'm currently implementing and thinking about the effects of the Decisions and Events, and have much of the rest already done (Although I always keep polishing the art until the inevitable release), and here's the slightly improved leaderescreen. Now, to give more insight about their uniques and playstyle: Their trait, Astonishment of the World, increase your capital's cultural output by two points every time a Great Artist, Musician or Writer is born within your empire, while any other Great Person such as Great Generals, Engineers, Scientists, Merchants and Prophets increase its science generation also by two points. The other part of their trait is that any specialist produces one additional Great Person point of the appropriate type. Overall, the trait ensures you get Great People faster but only if you focus on it (At the expense of your city growth, since it depends on specialists), and gain even more useful bonuses from them

"A man of extraordinary culture, energy, and ability – called by a contemporary chronicler stupor mundi (the wonder of the world), by Nietzsche the first European, and by many historians the first modern ruler – Frederick established in Sicily and southern Italy something very much like a modern, centrally governed kingdom with an efficient bureaucracy."

"Frederick was an avid patron of science and the arts. He played a major role in promoting literature through the Sicilian School of poetry. His Sicilian royal court in Palermo, from around 1220 to his death, saw the first use of a literary form of an Italo-Romance language, Sicilian. The poetry that emanated from the school had a significant influence on literature and on what was to become the modern Italian language."

Frederick's unique building, the Imperial Menagerie, will also help your pursuit for Great People: replacing the Garden, it retains the +25% bonus for great person generation but gains one additional maintenance in exchange for not depending on a local source of fresh water, and it generates +1 Happiness for every three specialists on this city. As such, they may be built anywhere and you can put this happiness to good use by expanding the holy empire with these infidel unique units, Frederick's Saracen Archers, loyal forces that didn't care if their emperor was excommunicated or not. The Saracen Archer doesn't replace any other unit but is comparable to the Composite Bowman (And is unlocked on the same technology). However, you can only acquire them by two means: Purchasing with gold, where they are expensive, or building them on cities who follow a different religion (Than that of your capital). These infidel cities will also accumulate points from your happiness, and once the city produces a saracen archer it will spawn a duplicate, should you have enough points. They are overall stronger and gain additional strength to rival the Crossbowman with Machinery.

"Frederick loved exotic animals in general. In 1235, the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II established at his court in southern Italy the "first great menagerie" in western Europe. An elephant, a white bear, a giraffe, a leopard, hyenas, lions, cheetahs, camels and monkeys were all exhibited; but the emperor was particularly interested in birds, and studied them sufficiently to write a number of authoritative books on them"

"Rather than exterminate the Arab-speaking population of Western Sicily, he deported them at Lucera. Not least, he enlisted them in his Christian army and even into his personal bodyguards."

It is to be noted that his city list initially focus on Frederick's sicilian possessions, so with true start locations the Holy Roman Empire will spawn on Sicily (And whenever that possible as the map deformations merge Sicily, it will spawn on the italian peninsula.)

And if anyone wants to help thinking about the decisions and events, here they are (I also might accept different decisions/events):
  • Decision #1: Enact the Constitutions of Melfi
  • Decision #2: Establish the Sicilian School
  • Event #1: Teutonic Order and the Prussian Crusade.
  • Event #2: Batu Khan demands the Holy Roman Throne.

Also, as I don't remember if I've already revealed the Roman leader, some other clues: I just noticed now that he had a beard, and he's not from early rome.

Seems pretty solid for me but I feel like the Great General, Admiral and Prophet could have their own bonuses.
General and Admiral bonuses could be flat XP bonus, Prophets feel kinda out of place for the HRE but I guess a Faith bonus could work. :dunno:
I feel like the Imperial Menagerie be could a zoo replacement that comes in a earlier tech than the usual, now you could retain the rather high GP bonus by either lowering happiness or increasing maintenance (which seems the best fitting considering it is pretty much a zoo for luxurious animals).
Saracen Archers look pretty solid for me although I didn't quite understand the last paragraph about them so maybe I am assuming wrong, and well this pretty much all I have to say about Fredericks II oh and what a pretty map. :)

For your little riddle about some bearded Roman dude I would like to think it is Hadrian seeing you really like those great independent emperors who don't need no religion.

And how are going your changes to older creations of yours?

I actually had completely forgotten Great Admirals existed, didn't even include them on the code. Anyway I'm not sure about splitting up more the great people, I like how well defined they are. Prophets could boost culture instead though.

I like how well positioned it is on the tech tree though, and moving the zoo would make it come too early, I think, and it kinda fits to replace the great person oriented building with this design.

You get two of them if you have enough points, and you gain these points based on your happiness.

No, it isn't Hadrian. He's a bit later, and related to his horseman unique unit, and his temple replacement unique building.

I haven't touched my old things for a while, but I already have a new ptolemy leaderscreen (That is already quite old, and I should redo again). All of them will be complete reworks, I think. Not even barbarossa will escape this, as I plan to give him actual units and buildings and transfer the current ones to decisions.

So... Suebi will probably be based around the tribe instead of the kingdom now, and I'll do a Kingdom of Galicia to replace the iberian state. The etruscan design is quite old, but some core aspects will be retained (Expansionism, culture and gold generation). The kingdom of sicily should become more pacific, with one unique building. The ptolemaic polyreme will be transferred to a decision, and I still haven't thought about a replacement, and the Serapeum effects changed (Their unique ability too, but overall focus will remain). While the Bactrian kingdom... Well I don't even know at the moment, but elephants are a must.

And I have, well, four civs on the works right now, and thats only counting those who are only mine. I'll release the roman and holy roman civs, then I'll work to update someone and on the lombards.

RIP the most unorthodox civ design ever. Nevertheless, I really like how you build your civs so I'm looking forward to updates and new civs.

Thanks. There was really no point, in my opinion, to retain the unorthodox design (Other than show off :p and to be used by those who don't want decision and events.). But it was nice while it lasted. And also, people on the steam workshop understandably wanted an unique unit for the Holy Roman Empire, since it's the friggin Holy Roman Empire.

By the way, were you the one who liked my Ptolemaic Egypt? Any suggestions for its ever-delayed update?

Nothing really, but I liked the Ptolemaics because it had a really good synergy with golden ages. It was really fun to spam Polyremes. If they are going to be a decision now it would be nice to replace them with something that can flourish from the said mechanic.

I plan to release my Rome today, if I have time (It's my birthday :)). Another clue for the emperor: He ruled for a while and saved the empire. Then he was murdered. Typical romans. And here is the civ icon (Still looking for a colour scheme).

Here are his uniques:

Trait:
Military units gain +25% Combat Strength during the war after capturing an enemy Capital, and a We Love The King Day starts on yours.

Unique Unit:
Replaces the Horseman. While garrisoned on a fort or citadel, gain +25% Combat Strength when attacking and receives the base Combat Strength of the strongest unit available. Gain +1 Movement if next to a Great General.

Unique Building:
Replaces the Temple, grant +1 happiness. The city immediately adopts your Pantheon upon being built for the first time, unless it has the majority religion of your Capital. If built on the capital, grant +1 Happiness for every city following your pantheon as majority religion.

Do any of your mods support Events and Decisions ?
Edit : Nevermind

Any civ released by me from now on will, but previous ones still haven't support. Just wait for the mythical updates.
