Welcome to the Civilization III: Conquests bug report forum!

If you discover a bug in Civ3 Conquests, please first scan the thread titles on the first page of this bug report forum to make sure it's not already reported.

When reporting a bug, it is important to remember to be clear and concise. The thread title should be a short description of the bug such as: "Crash on replay screen". The body of the post should include the following:

Description of problem - (only necessary if the thread title needs further explanation).
Steps to reproduce - include any pertinent steps that either must be carried out or may have an effect on whether the bug will repeat.
Observed result - Tell what happens when the steps are carried out.
Expected result – Only necessary if not obvious.

There may be times when it will be appropriate to provide save games or screenshots to help illustrate a bug.

Here is an example: (note - this bug is **not** real - it's made up)

Bug: Conquests Scenario - The game will crash to the desktop when the player selects a "Dromon" in the Middle Ages Scenario.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load the Middle Ages Conquests Scenario.
2. Select Cordova.
3. Start the game.
4. Change the build queue of a coastal city and note that a dromon can be built.
5. Click on the dromon.

Observed Result:
The game will crash to the desktop.

Expected Result:
The player should be able to select the dromon without the game crashing.
Thanks and happy bug hunting!

PS: You don't have to follow the guidelines exactly. ;)

When submitting a bug report, please attach a file and/or screenshot. It's rather hard for Firaxis and BreakAway Games to know what the problem is when they have to guess at 3 lines. Also, <b>PLEASE read the sample Bug Report Guidelines thread.[/b] It shows you how to submit a standard bug report. Something like, "I'm playing a random game and changed the rules and the game crashed on turn 10" doesn't cut it. It needs the scenario, game save, possibly a screenshot, and a step by step list to produce the bug. THIS IS PERHAPS THE #1 REASON BUGS ***ARE NOT*** FIXED! BUGS THAT DON'T CONTAIN GAMESAVES AND/OR SCREENSHOTS CAN NOT BE VERIFIED OR PINPOINTED! SCREENSHOTS AND SAVEGAMES ARE VERY IMPORTANT!

If you have any problems or questions about uploading a file and/or submitting bug reports, feel free to use the #civfanatics chatroom. You can get to the chatroom by clicking on the ChatRoom link that's near the File Uploads link (look further down for a screenshot).

Now, here's the info on how to add an attachment:

1. Upload File

At the bottom of the forum (on any page, including 'post reply'/'post new thread', there's a File Upload link.

2. Selecting a File

When you have clicked the File Upload link, you'll see a popup that shows 3 textboxes. You can upload 3 files at a time. If you don't know the name or location of your file, you can click the "browse" button. For example, if your screenshots are in "c:\psp7\images\", you'd type that into the textbox, and click "Browse". You can choose a file from the window that pops up. Remember this important piece of information: Always put an underscore in your filenames. The server won't display the file correctly if there are spaces.

3. Getting the Filename

This part isn't much, but you'll need to copy the filename of your file so that you can place it into BBCode. (that's the [ url=http://www..... tags) In this example, the filename is zulu_880AD.SAV. Remember, the filenames are case sensitive. So, zulu_880AD.SAV is different than zulu_880AD.sav. If you upload a file with the same name - i.e., zulu_880AD.SAV twice, a number will appear at the end, like zulu_880AD1.SAV, zulu_880AD2.SAV and so on.

4. Getting the URL

One the file is uploaded, you'll see the location of the file. As of this announcement (updated), the directory is: http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6. You'll need this to point to where your file is.

5. Now that it's uploaded.

Simply put in the required tags that are in the screenshot below. Don't include any spaces between the and [IMG] tags, or else the link w...anatics.net/uploads6/ct_uploadhelp6.jpg[/IMG]

Miscellaneous Bug Reporting Information:

  • Before you post any bug report, please read the Conquests Features Comprehensive Survey thread. It shows the new features in Civ3 Conquests.
  • NAB - This means, Not a Bug. You might see this on some threads when the bug you reported is actually a feature. The thread will also be closed.

Could someone update this on the first page... It was last updated on 10/24/03 and it could use one. Besides, I don't want to dig through all the pages to find what I need :D...

The patch is out! Please use "BETA 1.15" (or whatever version you have) in the title when submitting a bug report. That way, Firaxis will know if it's a bug in the latest patch. If the bug existed in 1.00, link or reference the bug.

Bug reporting/testing note: If you encounter a severe bug (crash, graphical, sound etc.), exit the game, and/or reboot (especeially if it's a crash), and try to reproduce it atleast 3 times. Some bugs may easily be attributed to low system memory.

I'm pretty sure CNR is "can not reproduce", as in the bug was random.

Yes, CNR is "Can Not Reproduce". :)
