Pirates Of the Caribbean

I cannot get past the fort! I can destroy the fort and land troops. But when I have to fight the english soldiers on land I don't stand a chance. How can you win when several soldiers are attacking you at once? I have the best gun, 7 in melee combat and a battleship with 650 men, 590 when I land.

Anybody know how to get past the fort? I'll cheat if I have to.
