So building Vancouver as Japan gives you Ritoru Yokohama and San Francisco gives you Ritoru Osaka, ie Little Yokohama or Osaka. Those are taken from Japanese neighbourhoods in those cities.

But what is Oumu no Tsuchi, the Japanese version of what I assume is Broome?

Does founding San Francisco as China give you Jiujinshan? (Old gold mountain?)

I'm going to try it and see XD.

You know what, I was noticing the exact same thing in Australia. Oumu = parrot and tsuchi = hammer (at least according to an online glossary). Anybody live around that area and know about hammer parrots? Just because of this I'm going to found another city in Australia with my ongoing Japan game.

That's... bizzare?

"Oumu" (オウム) means parrot or cockatoo, "no" (の) is the genitive marker, and "tsuchi" (土) means soil or land. So literally, "land of parrots/cockatoos". Makes sense, I guess.
