World Empires Live is not a subscription game anymore instead a FREE Strategy Game!
Some of the negative comments below were based on the old subscription system used so is irrelevant now.

Just DL and play the full version limitless and for free.

This is the 4th thread you've made for this game. And people still aren't going to pay monthly fees for a non-MMOG
 
For example, ppl are paying 34.95 USD to play Web Stratego for 12 months, a simple board game which is also non-MMOG -> http://www.metaforge.net/olg/webstratego/registration.jsp?src=mfg_ws_menu

I challenge you, sign up for the beta and you will be able to play World Empires Live for free for 5 months and see what you think after trying that! I do not see the problem or understand the animosity. This forum says

I have more important things to spend my money and time on on, like food, seduction, college, and playing my nearly 200 games I already own and don't have to rent (such as every Civ game).
 
We just went public beta so anyone can DL and play today!
World Empires Live is scheduled for January 2010 release date so this beta is close to a complete game.

You need a fast Windows machine to play World Empires Live. Recommended is 2007 standard CPU and 1.5 Gb RAM

The instructions to play the beta are very simple

1) Register here -> http://www.worldempireslive.com/test-site-002/register.html (only user name and password needed)

2) Download and install latest Beta from this link:
http://www.worldempireslive.com/download/wel_beta.zip

( Windows 7 instead use this link: http://www.worldempireslive.com/download/wel_beta_noinstall.zip )

3) Run the game and use your registration details to log in

QUICK START GUIDE:
i) Start the game and log in
ii) Press "Host"
iii) Press "Ok"

Game will now start in single player mode.

Hints: If performance is slow you can turn music off. Do this by pushing the settings button in down right section of the screen and click "music" button

You have a too slow PC or you have some virus checker, torrent software or other running on your PC. Try shutting down any such apps.

Mostly, U need a fast CPU and at leist 1 Gb RAM in order for the game to run
 
Ha! I love the look of this game. I've been stuck in another series too long. Hopefully I'll have some extra time around the Christmas Holiday to invent some strategies.

Yeah, college is expensive. Going for $4500/semester for tuitition alone, what a joke. I think colleges are out of control because of the bad economy. Jobs are few.

Maybe games should have like "money matches", like poker. Then I can make money kicking ass playing strategy games.

Its spelled Canuck, like the hockey team. There is no such thing as Cannuck or Cannuk. Wild Turkey is an american (Kentucky) bourbon whiskey, and I did have chase, we had coca cola.
