"Together with the Austrian UA, their UU the Hussar and their UB the coffee house were revealed, but stats for these are not yet known."
Strange - hussars are originally Hungarian units, not Austrians. But I also admit that that they were serving later on for the Habsburgs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hussar

As Hungary was even in war of freedom against the Habsburg Empire, this feels like giving a talib fighter unit to the US. Hope I can make it clear this way.

clear what? I wasn't asking for "why". I was complaining about how sick I am of people pointing out and complaining about every little irrelevant detail, it's a game, a fun game, not a history simulator.

This would be the first one that existed from 680 untill 1018. This was our second one from 1185 untill 1396, although by the end considerably smaller. At our peak we were slightly bigger than a double sized modern-day Germany. During the middle ages Bulgaria was actually the cultural and political Slavic centre. The Cyrillic alphabet was created in the Literary School in our then-capital Preslav (the Russians hate us for it) and we were one of the very few countries that managed to establish its very own church independent of the Greek and the Vatican, a pale and pitiful shadow of its former self that it is today. Our military was based around our very strong and mobile cavalry, which was feared across Europe to the point of generals often retreating instead of trying to fight us on our own territory.
Basically throughout the Middle Ages we were the Yin to the Byzantian Yang, often going to war with each other, resulting in some of the biggest battles throughout the Middle Ages. Two particularly fun examples are those of Nikifor I, who invaded Bulgaria in 811 only to be ambushed and slaughtered by Krum The Horrible (you'll see why they called him that) who reportedly used the emperor's skull as a cup (there you go ) or the Battle of Kleidion, when Basil II captured 15 000 Bulgarian soldiers, blinding all of them save for 1 in every 100, who was left with one eye. We also enjoyed long stretches of piece and cooperation too. In fact the Bulgarian army played a key role in driving back the Arabs in the 8th century, our getting an alphabet was partially thanks to Byzantium and at some point our king Simeon I was pretty much declared the regent of the Byzantian Empire (backstabbed by the empress though). In any case because we, along with Byzantium, disappeared off the face of Europe for some 4-5 centuries, and because since the establishment of the Third Bulgarian Kingdom (now democracy) we have managed to win every battle we have fought and yet lose 4 out of 6 wars (?!), with a lengthy and corrupting erm, socialistic presence contributing to the mess, we are hardly that popular. Besides, there are many other civs that badly deserve a place in Civ V but are nowhere to be found. I am incredibly happy that the Byzantians, Carthage and Sweden (srsly Firaxis, leaving Sweden out of vanilla?! WTF?!) finally found their way into the game, but there are still many other deserving civs. Where is the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Minoans, Phonecia, the Aksumite Empire and its biblical Queen of Sheba or the Kingdom of Zimbabwe? So I don't quite think we are first on the list of must-be-in-civ countries, but I can't help but feel neglected

To be honest I never knew before that Bulgaria was once a mighty empire during the Middle Ages (save for Basil II) in par with Poland-Lithuania. We Filipinos never made any efforts to make an empire during our history, let alone a centralized state. We were always in the shadow, no, the gut, of imperial dominance of the Spaniards, Americans, and Japanese. I think you Bulgarians (and in addition the Polish) really, REALLY deserve more in Civ. DLC maybe?
