Nassim Nicholas Taleb claims that Levantine Arabic isn't really an Arabic dialect but is actually an Arabized offshoot of Aramaic. I am unable to find others who claim this, which is odd due to the political angle (the Wiki article doesn't mention it). Has anyone else heard of this idea? Usually historical revisionists come in groups.
