Receiving error -5004 : 0x80041f42 when trying to uninstall Civ IV on Windows 8.1.

When trying to uninstall it from the Control Panel, I get -5004 : 0x80041f42 as an error before it begins the process, and inserting the disc doesn't show the "install" option, only "play."

Googling this seems to relate to the registry being corrupted, but idk since they're all for Windows 7 or earlier. Any help?

This is odd, but i once downloaded the civilization3.19 patch and it asked me to uninstall civilization. I went with the flow and the file that was supposed to install version 3.19 went ahead and uninstalled all of civilization. I mustve had civilization 3.19 version installed already but the point is that i didnt get an error when uninstalling bts in Windows 8 this way.
