I have BNW so the culture victory changed a little bit. I never have gone for a culture victory in Civ V and I want to try one.

So how do you get a CV in BNW? I know it has something to do with tourism.

You need to build your three guilds first of all, all of them generate culture and great people points when worked by specialists. Great Writers, Artists and Musicians all create Great Works of Art, which yield +2 :c5culture: Culture and +2 :tourism: Tourism when placed somewhere in your civilization. These Great People can also be bulbed, instantly granting 8x your current Culture output, a Golden Age, or 8x your current Tourism output when used in competitor's land, respectively.

In Buildings and Wonders with more than one slot, you get an extra +1 culture and tourism for every great work placed in the building, if your works meet the requirements for its Theming Bonus. Finishing Aesthetics doubles this bonus. Various other policies and UA also help with CV.

Hotels and Airports convert 50% of culture from World Wonders, Great Works and Tile Yields to Tourism.

National Visitor Center converts 100% of culture from World Wonders, Great Works and Tile Yields to Tourism.

Researching Internet doubles your tourism, so does contributing the largest amount of :c5production: to the International Games.

If your lifetime Tourism influence on every other Civ is higher than every other Civ's lifetime Culture, you win. Check the game for which factors determine how much your Tourism Per Turn influences other Civs, diplomats only help in Civs which have a different ideology from yours.

First, if you ever went for cultural victory in Vanilla or G&K; you need to un-learn that.

Science is very important to speed up the cultural victory turn as you need a tech lead to hand build many of the wonders that help the most with it. But you also need a start in which your capital will produce a decent amount of hammers.

So, it starts with pretend you are going for science victory (standard tall Tradition 4 city start with NC ASAP and an early beeline to Education)

But this is where it starts diverging.
Policies: Start Aesthetics as filler policies after completing Tradition while waiting to be able to open Rationalism. But stop and go to Rationalism when you can. Also, when you reach the tech for the Louvre, open Exploration (but don't proceed; the whole point is getting the Louvre). Following completion of Rationalism then complete Aesthetics.
Both Order & Freedom how a lot more to offer than Autocracy (unless your main plan is to steal great works from the AI)

For techs; if you have enough of a tech lead by then, then following Education, there are a host of world wonders with theming bonuses attached.

Later on you want Hotels, Airports, Radio (for Effiel Tower), National Vistors Center, and if the game lasts long enough the Internet.

Theming bonus sources:

Writing:

1. Great Library. This is the most difficult Great Wonder to build though.

2. Globe Theater. If on Emperor or below it's normally easy to get. On Immortal can also be difficult.

3. Oxford. As a national wonder, you can always build this.

Art:

1. Uffizni (requires opening Aesthetics) This is a popular choice with the AI; so can be iffy on Immortal.

2. Louvre (requires opening Exploration) If your production is high enough, can be built on Immortal.

3. Sistine Chapel. This is kind of Uffizini-lite. But it's more popular with AI.

4. National Hermitage. As a national wonder, it can always be built.

5. Museum. As a standard building can also be built everywhere

Music:

1. Broadway. Note that this requires 3 of the same era so timing is key. Normally better to get Eiffel Tower first and if the AI beats you to Broadway, so be it.

2. Sidney Opera House. Much easier to use as this only wants 2 and also wants different eras.

Other:
Effiel Tower: Solid source of tourism. If Radio chosen as the free tech it can always be built.

Late game musicians: After you have enough Musicians to cover both Broadway & Sidney then any future ones are better off performing tourism tours. Note that their tourism is locked at 10 times what tourism was the turn they formed.

Hotels, Airports, and National Vistor Center will cause your tourism output to soar. And the Internet will provide the end game push if you've not already won by then.

World Council:
You normally want the first vote to be Arts Funding,
second worlds fair,
and then Olympics as soon as you can.

Civs:
Brazil & France have the biggest advantages for seeking cultural victory.
