Civ in real life

Russia is then denounced by England, US and the other NATO countries, because Kiev has a pledge of protection from those countries. Will war ensue?

War is unlikely due to the huge Russian trade routes filling the coffers of London/Berlin/New York. Not to mention the 10 oil we've traded from them!!

Rotate a few troops along the border to discourage them and get back to building those granary's and circuses.

Putin shouldn't make such a rookie mistake.. Always puppet first, then annex. Citizens are much happier if they're slowly transitioned into obedience.

Russia is planting a citadel next to the Crimea. Kiev is outraged over the Crimea tile having flipped to Russia.

It's all Russia's fault for building ships in a landlocked sea. They should have disbanded them long ago and saved on maintenance costs.

What's weird is that Russia just had the International Games, yet they certainly aren't getting any boosts to tourism or city-state relations... :mischief:

On the good side the no-nuclear weapon resolution was passed 30 turns ago.
But on the other hand, Russia still have a few nukes left and a double uranium UA!

China and Russia just signed a declaration of friendship and adopted the Order Ideology!
Poland Germany became GUARDED against Russia and China

Russia has an open border agreement(Crimean Naval bases) with Ukraine and will occur sever warmonger penalties, if they declared war.
Plus Ukraine has asked Russia to withdraw their units on their border, and Russia didn't declare war immediately, thats another possible warmonger penalty.

This must be a Soviet Block scenario. The first former KGB/Oligarch to return Russia to its USSR glory wins. US must convert the former USSR republics to Freedom, and this must be done culturally because "we has nukes". NATO as usual it a puppet player of the Western powers.

Seems like The Netherlands, England, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Celtic, Germany, Rome, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Poland, France and America are chain denouncing Russia

Georgia remembers when the NATO countries started a chain of denouncing and didn't do squat when Russia took their northernmost city. Later, everyone politely "forgot" that aggression because Russia got the international games. The oil for cash deals and trade routes with Russia continue unabated.

Putin reloads the previous turn and acts as if his troops are just passing through the area.

Russia invades a mysterious country named Georgia.
Assyria suffers a Civil Disorder. The people want Freedom, but Ashurbanipal likes Autocracy.
Korea provoked itself and the world by launching nukes into the wastelands.
Russia gets first place in the International Games and 1 turn later threatens Kiev whom is protected by NATO. America embargoes Russia. Bucharest is concerned about its independence. Russia loses 10% of its GPT.

15 Civs....must be a huge map. Given that it takes several days to make a denouncement it must be some sort mod that allows Ultra-Marathon speed. Earth Map of course.

Problem is there is no warmonger penalty. Even with chain denouncements, others will still deal with them. Also, going to war with this CS is going to be quick.

The question is whether or not Crimea is a really a City State and if so what's it status been over the years. After some period of independence was it once puppeted by the Soviet Union before being traded to the Ukraine (who also puppeted it). Does Russia now seek to liberate it or to puppet it or outright annex it?

Crimea/Ukraine broke away from Russia due to American ideological pressure (and severe unhappiness) at the end of the cold war. Due to slightly different game mechanics, it became an independent city state instead of becoming part of America.

That's how the game should work anyway, so...
