Quick Questions and Answers

JUNGLE tiles....
Am I going crazy or is the Civilopedia wrong? It says a Jungle tile provides just 1 food and -1 production. I can't find any instance where a Jungle is providing just 1 food in a game. It always gives 2. Civilopedia says it's meant to provide just 1 food. Forest seems correct where it says it provides 1 food and 1 production, which always seems to be the case so it can't be an addition thing with a base terrain.

Can someone please explain how I'm reading this wrong? It's really doing my head in.

I THINK that for forest it's an absolute yield, whereas for jungle it's relative - although I would then have expected it to say plus one food. Would that make sense of what you are seeing?

That's not correct. Jungle always is 2 food. Just like Forest is always 1 food 1 hammer and Hills are 2 hammers.

Yes, but the reason jungle is always 2 food is because jungle is always on plains (+1 food, -1 production). Forest gives a static value, regardless if it on plains or grassland. I agree that it is not written clearly.

Hi, some newbie questions (just plain vanilla, no patches or expansions or DLCs) - still trying to learn the game :)

What are all the "disadvantages" of building new cities - unhappiness goes up, culture needed for the adoption of new policies goes up and I science cost goes also up? Is that all or is there something else, and by how much do they all go up, that probably depends on the map size?

Yes, with regards to unhappiness and policy cost. Science is pretty much break even though (cost goes up, but each city builds more). The other significant disadvantage is how much harder it becomes to build National Wonders. Also the Tradition tree helps only with your first four cities.

I was hoping someone might point you someplace better, but its been a few days. You can try this: Civ V - Map Size/Game Speed REFERENCE (Mechanic Changes and Map Specifications)

Not sure if I should open a bug thread, so I'm just gonna ask here to be sure that it's a bug :crazyeye:

I didn't play Civ for a while, but as far as I know, any city can have 6 aircrafts stationed by default. Well not in my game.
I have Oil, I have the required techs but the city says, that I've reached the maximum amount of aircrafts in the city. WTF? I found out, that once I build an airport I can build aircrafts. I'm pretty sure, that's not the idea because airports are meant to only raise the possible number of aircrafts per city.

Help? xD

Do guided missiles count as aircraft; could that have been the issue?

EDIT: Confirmed -- guided missiles count as aircraft for city capacity.

Hello yes I was playing a game of civ 5 mp and all. My first game that lasted a while. I was getting attacked by Egypt then when my city was low hp (I had enough to defend) I saw a warrior at a hill. I though "The warrior can't hit my city so i'm fine. When turn started he moved the warrior from that spot to a flat land then on to a jungle mountain and still attacked... I know it was the warrior because he was in my city and there was no other melee unit around.

Can someone please explain this? When I said about it in the chat he said "ever heard of mt kill?"

I truly am confused since I have played a long time of SP and it has NEVER happened to me.

Edit: the only thing I can think of which I am most certain is not in the game is that having a unit that has 2 move and having a lot of horse archers around it makes it have the same movement?

Most likely the warrior had 'altitude training' from Mt.Kilimanjaro; the AI does get it and it does use it, sometimes you can have surprises.. On MP, you definitely will use that bonus if you get it :) Now, if that particular natural wonder was NOT on the map, then this happening would be very strange indeed.

What are the interception ranges of the various units capable of intercepting aircraft?

*All the fighter variants?
*Ground-based AA units?
*Naval intercepting units?

Does kilimanjaro have the 3 gold 2 culture? If so then that would kind of explain it... even though i didn't see him exploring to the east (only natural wonder was to the east quite a bit).

First time playing BNW , question for Trade routes. The type of caravan that gives food( lets says +4 food here). Does the city the caravan start from gives out 4 food meaning it slows it growth ? Or is this 4 food just taken out of nowhere ?

Why didn't you just test it? :)
The food isn't taken from the town's stock, so technically it comes out of nowhere.

Hi, just want to ask, is there anyway to increase a spy's "kill rate"? I have a level 3 spy in my capital and I've also built the NIA there. Tooltip says my spy's kill rate is around 27% and boosted to 33%. I'm in no way the tech leader but it's just frustrating when they you know what was stolen and who stole it. I would understand the occasional "unknown civ stole this tech" stuff since there are plenty of Order civs in my game but knowing who and not being able to do anything?

Now just a curiosity question, if I have the NIA would any new spy I get always start at level 2? The free spy from building it is at level 2 and when I progressed to the next era the new spy is also at that level.

Well I put random map, got archipelago and a small island and waged a 1000 years war against CS on my island so I had a lot of unhapiness...Growth turn clock was changing all the timeand civilopedia didnt say.

Why can't I work this marble tile in the bottom right? It's not associated with another city either.

I have no idea why the option doesn't even exist. Specialists? I tried turning them off too and back to a normal citizen.

You may only work (and buy) tiles up to 3 tiles away from your city, though your city can grow up to 5 tiles away. Strange but that's the way the game handles it.

AI Enemy is in danger of winning the diplomatic victory on in the next vote; I can't finish my VC before that. So are there any other options apart from buying out one of the City Sates he has allied? What happens if I conquer one or two of those CSs?
