Brazil discussion thread

Pedro II looks like a white bearded Karl Marx.

I happen to be Brazilian, and to be quite surprised with this inclusion.

I do wonder what this means for Portugal, though. I always enjoyed playing with the Portuguese in pretty much any game that has them.

Because the Armilliar Sphere and the Order of Christ's Cross are both Portuguese Symbols.

Yes, they're symbols of Portuguese origin, which were then adopted for the Imperial Brazilian flag:

If Portugal is in, they'll probably have the shield thing as their icon, just like in Civ IV.

I figure he's a Brazilian fan who's a little too excited. :p

Have we got any clue already about Brazilian uniques?

My guess is, UU would be the Bandeirantes, and the UA would be something like "Progress and Order" (their national motto) regarding jungle exploitation and tourism-related. The Carnaval would be a great "We Love the King!"-like enhanced ability.

Aren't Bandeirantes technically (colonial) Portuguese? Maybe they'll want something more uniquely Brazilian.

You're technically right, but still, the Empire of Brazil wouldn't have grown if it wasn't for the Bandeirantes. Bandeirantes though are related to slavery and that's f-ed up. Cangaceiros would be an awesome pick! Imagine having Lampião as a Brazilian Great General. Amazing!

I wonder if the UA could have something to do with Jungle/River Tiles.

I've always though that the Amazon should be a Natural Wonder...like a super long river and the cities that settle on it get a science bonus or something...but that's a topic for a different thread.

Well sir, you should start learning a little History instead of freely commenting in this game without knowing anything outside the US. Shame on you!:nuke:

meh. I only learned about Simon Bolivar and Jose San Martin in history class. Brazil just seemed like Portugal 2.0. But I guess I'll be learning alot more from the new Civilopedia pages!

Nice try. Santa Claus also redistributes the wealth to the lesser abled.
