Panzer: I rarely use tanks, mainly because its location in tech tree and planes and ships are more important units that need oil. Panzers have just increased combat strength and nothing else. I was thinking about downvoting hoplites, but at least hoplites are in better position in tech tree.

Mandekalu deserves the spot. In fact, I'm really surprised it's not down yet! It's just an inferior in every single way Conquistador. Both have no penalty against cities, but Spanish knight gets more promotions. Why the hell would you even want to attack a city with melee not to simply take it unless you're an absolute runaway? I use melee to tank the city's damage while ranged weakens it. This UU is just a terrible waste of space - for me, Songhai only has one unique, a building that is only okay unless you abuse the first middle tradition policy (with the gavel icon. Legalism, I think) to get 3-4 insta temples, in which case it can give you a nice culture/faith lead. Even then it's nowhere near the power of Egyptian Tomb.

Surprised Landsknecht is already gone. Yeah, it's ineffective and pathetic compared to the Impi, but it just seems strange it's gone (and Panzer will soon follow) while such an unholy thing as Mandekalu is still in. I bet it's because nobody cares about Songhai or they have forgotten poor Askia.

Kris Swordsman 11 I'm actually kind of sad to see this one doing as bad as it is. It has access to two of the best promotions in the game in invulnerability and restlessness and they carry over on upgrade. A unit with march and invulnerability is nearly unstoppable. Spam these and gift the bad ones to CSs or civs you plan on going to war with (it's funny seeing the AI trying to use your gimp warriors) you won't be disappointed. To be honest I'd even go so far as to say invulnerability needs a nerf but I guess the chance of bad promotions kind of balances it

I personally think it should be changed so that each unit provides Culture per turn equivalent to number of units it has defeated as long as it stays alive. As it stands, it's just pretty meh.

Ship of the Line: I feel like upvoting a ship today, and this one gets the golden spot. Fast, more powerful, cheaper and sees further, if I'm not mistaken. Frigates are already very good, those English ships are monsters! I love to get the Great Lighthouse and the Exploration policy tree just to buff this sea tank into a 9 movement, +3 sight (1 from UU, 1 from wonder 1 from policy), cheap and stronger beast. Just wow... I've had lots of fun playing England with these units.

Ballista: early war was nerfed and this unit is only marginally better than the catapult, which is not very useful already (comp. bows are better). Still, it might be nice to build one or two... but then you compare it to the Siege Tower and cry a little bit.

I think we should keep it at +1/-3 for a while. Going to +1/-4 would add to much power on a single vote, I guess.

Keshik is a game changer unit, It is ranged, and ranged units rule civ 5, and it is highly mobile, and if this would not be enough it can retreat after attack.

Slinger - i find the retreat not and advantage but a disadvantage. it is unrealible, and it could not protech civilians.

The faith from their FFK is negligible and their carry-over promotions are wasted on the anti-mounted line. Speaking of anti-mounted, this guy doesn't have the regular spear anti-mounted bonus.

Slinger: Retreating causes more trouble than it gives benefits. Like when you're trying to escort settlers or protect workers. Also archer UU's are not good because comp bows come usually before any wars.

Impis beat every single unit in the medieval- renaissance. Keshiks and camels are hunted down by 3 movement and killed, CKN can't deal enough damage with buffalo, Longbows can't retreat fast enough, etc. You gain promos faster too, and don't have to worry about upgrade path.

Hakkapeliitas suck. WHen will you have enough GGs to justify more than 1 of these?

Keshiks and Camels are hunted down with 3 movement, Longbows can't retreat fast enough to take advantage of 3 range, CKNs cant do enough damage with buffalo cover promos, etc. Range attack also means its not useless attacking cities, and you don't have to worry about upgrade path either.

Hakkapeliitas need tons of GGs to be useful in large numbers. Maybe 1-2 just to put on your GG, but no reason to build more than that.

Hussar: It is fast and strong, sees further, if I'm not mistaken. I have a soft spot for these late game mounted units, I know, but man, the flanking bonuses these guys get is awesome. Get 3-4 of these and run around the enemy with you 5 movement so you can get the biggest flanking bonus ever. Also, these guys upgrade to the Landship, so, if you've got the Autocracy ideology, you could get Lightning Warfare to have Landships with 5 movement, extra sight, that ignores ZOC and has double the normal flanking bonus. Ignoring ZOC is the key here, so you can get easier flanks. Last game, I used Autocracy Venice with a simillar strategy, and it was easy to wipe out the world with that policy and a bunch on Landships, on Immortal.

Maori Warrior: quite bad. -10% to adjacent enemy units... Also, it doesn't affect ships (if your maori is on the coast) and neither helps your ranged units, unlike the African Forest Elephant's "Feared Elephant' promo. It is not a good unit and you'd get into an economic crisis if you spammed these guys. Let's kill it already
