Ethiopia- 21 I enjoyed this civ a lot before BNW, especially in MP. I still do though. Now that tall gameplay is encouraged in BNW, the UA insures Ethiopia from future wars. The UU adds further defensive flavour and the rough bonus enables you to create decent guard troops. The UB guarantees you a religion. If you are ever afraid of starting near a warmongering civ, play as Ethiopia, get a religion and get the defender of faith enhancer. In MP, if you are left alone, you become too strong to attack with all those defensive bonuses.
France- 17 - The tourism bonus only applies to the capitol, so not only do you have to build some cultural wonders to make this useful, but you need some decent bpt to get the wonders early, as well as have a productive capitol. UU might give the French a melee lead in Renaissance but it is pointless to upgrade them as they contain no special promotions. Chateau might seem ok but I think the only decent spot for one is on a plains tile. I wouldn't want to build them on pristine grassland suitable for farming.

-3 Denmark, forum name aside they have nothing going for them really. Very situational use on UA UUs not very thrilling. These Vikings die easy.

+1 England Strong all around civ with land and naval UUs both very strong in their eras and the Longbowmen carrying automatic range promo forward. UA also strong even if not on a water map the extra spy lets you keep one at home and send the other out for various tasks.

Some can probably guess i see Denmark as the worst civ from my "Fix Denmark" thread. Thing is, they purely are specialized on naval invasion and pillaging/raiding, but they don't really get much out of it. While 25 hp from pillaging tile did buff Denmark a little bit, that's not enough to make it a good UA. They should get further befits from pillaging/plundering trade routes like extra xp or tripled gold or something.

First to upvote Poland. UA is really flexible and helps with any strategy, UU and UB work perfectly with each other, giving Poland opportunity to mounted dominance. Poland is good civ for any victory type and can play peacefully or aggressively.

Denmark out. Just not that powerful at all.
Venice voted up. We're voting on how powerful the civ is. People may find them boring, but the fact is Venice can absolutely coast to a diplomatic victory, given the massive income of double trade routes.

Iroquois: never got the hang of playing these well
England: Absolutely no bias here! The fact that well over half my games are as England has got nothing to do with it...

Are we voting on which civilizations we think are weakest/strongest, or which civilizations we like/don't like playing with the most? I.E. Venice can be very strong, but requires a playing in a different style than usual, which a lot of people don't like. Or someone who prefers wide domination play isn't going to ever play India.

Personally, I loathe the Mongols entirely because of their UA (even though their unit/khan is hella strong). If we're voting dislike and never play, I vote them down first. If we're voting what we think, theoretically, is the strongest/weakest, I wouldn't.

Venice gets stronger the higher the difficulty level. I think a lot of the Venice hate is from playing it on say Prince. The city states get the AI handicaps as well. For example, on deity around education time when you pick up a city state you get all tiles fully improved, a free worker, 5-6 free units, probably 10 or so pop, and free buildings often including university. On Prince what you get is probably half the tiles unimproved with the other half on fire, no worker, maybe a unit, 4-5 pop, and possibly a library.

Brasil can be good for a culture game, but that jungle bias is a killer. I'd rather be Inca and use my massive food/production advantage to wonder spam.

France: I really like Chateaus but it's hard to get the wonders you need aaand the Musketman is strong but like others said their advantage comes at a time where you want to build wonders ...

Songhai: Trait is great :) UU - a cheaper knight without city attack penalty. since pillaging heals a unit - great. UB - maintainence free temple that produces culture like a monument. sign me in

+1 to Venice. The hate it received is completely undeserved, but I have to agree seeing all those natural wonders/perfect locations unclaimed can be really annoying.

But it's so fun. MoV makes GM's from very weak things into a real alternative to GS/GE. Galeass is... Well, overrated by some, underrated by some. It's decent, but it's barely stronger and costs more. With only the capital of Venice being able to produce these, I'd expect them to be badass, but they aren't. The UA is unique and fun though.

-3 off France. I prefered the old one a lot. This new UA is in my opinion highly inferior to what it used to be. Chateau give some culture, yeah, but at the cost of food (which can give you more production and science) or production improvements. Not really a perfect trade off if you ask me.

Musketeers have a nice strength bonus, but what besides that? Boring things. I prefered the Foreign Legions, they at least gave some unique promotions and were on the same path as Musketeers.

Also in my opinion France as a cultural warmongerer in G&K/Civ 5 was much more close to real life France than what is now a purely cultural civ which needs to wonderspam in their capital to get anything valuable from their UA, which simply doesn't happen at higher difficulties. Especially since any wonder with a slot is for some reason considered a must have by the enemy civs and their prioritize most of them.

Although I found the Venice game I played boring as all hell, I can't deny that they're powerful. Definitely not a lower-tier civ.

France, on the other hand, was destroyed by the BNW overhaul. Yes, great for a cultural victory (provided Paris is in a good enough city to build wonders and has plenty of luxuries) but that is all. A disappointing portrayal of a great Civ.

+1 for Poland - it just fits almost any situation and adjusts perfectly. With horses and good religion it gets even better.

-3 for Brazil - I wanted desperately to love them, however I can't manage to get my game going in my several attempts with Brazil. When I finally manage to get a good situationnal start (jungle), I find out that my neighbours are Genghis on the left and Shaka on the right  Frustrating and big personnal disappointment - too situational for me.

I think you vote however you want to justify it. There are some weak civs that are going to go pretty quick early on but most civs are pretty balanced imo. It's going to come down to personal opinion and experiences in the end.

The ones I'm voting down are the ones I'm least likely to choose when starting a new game. When I'm scrolling through the list the ones that make me go "Ugh, no way!" are going first.

The Venice-hate is absurd, by the way. They are objectively the most powerful by a long way. Which is why I dislike playing as them, it feels far too easy.

The India-hate is also pretty stupid. Granted, the balance was messed up in G+K, but the way happiness is done seems different in BNW and they are much tougher.
