Getting it on Steam because then I can play it on July 9th even though I live in Europe
How so? I got G&K on Steam and was only able to play it after the European release date.
With hindsight, did those 2-3 days make that much difference in your playing experience between June last year and now?
No. But it went live at 12:01 EST, which meant I was playing by 12:45.
Why isn't it already in pre-order available on steam while others sites like http://www.gamingdragons.com/en/game/buy-sid-meiers-civilization-v-brave-new-world-steam-download.html are selling it for 19,95 (through steam) ?
Good question. Added the link, though. Why isn't it already in pre-order available on steam while others sites like http://www.gamingdragons.com/en/game/buy-sid-meiers-civilization-v-brave-new-world-steam-download.html are selling it for 19,95 (through steam) ?
The Gaming Dragons website seems to work by location detection; for me, the price shows as $24.99, which is cheaper than all of the other US shops we have so far.
It is quoting £15.80 for UK.
A quick comparison of the prices (at May 23rd prices, with 29.99USD being used as the baseline for price):
Canada
Amazon.ca - CAD 29.99
EBGames.ca - CAD 29.99
29.021USD. Very slight mark down.
Wow; them listing fixed prices in Canada results in counter-intuitive results. The dollar being worth slightly more than the Canadian dollar has resulted in this discount.
Also, it may be worth noting that since pre-orders usually aren't charged against the credit card until the official release date that all these prices in terms of US dollars will change daily until they get locked into to whatever the exchange rate happens to be on July 9th/12th. If the US dollar strengthens more, all these prices in terms of US dollars goes down while if the US dollar weakens, all these prices in terms of the dollar rises.
