The Royal House of W

Thanks Tegvtec :D

Here's my post again - so people don't have to kick back to page 1:
--------------------------------

Welcome hank0r! Sorry for the long delay in welcoming you into House W!

Sir hank0r, I bestow upon you the honorary title of "Artifex Nobleus" [artist noble] and do grant you the right to use the seal of the House of W and all the privileges due your new station.
Welcome brother. :salute:

Also - some very exciting news! I've been toying around with a new idea to add some flavor to this game... and, of course, I'm always trying to up the bar... set the standard high!

I've hit on the idea of producing a series of animated movies... kind of like Merlot: The Miniseries.

Here's my first test video. If His majesty thinks it's good enough, we could release it in the UN... and then we can work on new videos. (With the help of all the nobles - particularly nobles of the house of W).

I'll need help adding voices, if we don't want to stick with the computer generated sounding ones.

without further ado... here's my first video for your enjoyment!

Thoughts?

.

I loved the video, General_W! :D Very well done!

Impressive dear sir. I would be more then glad to lend you my voice for any future work.

LLTK

I cried laughing. Amazing job. Really amazing.

By his majesty's leave I will happily donate my voice to any future material.

LLTK!

Thank you my Lord!
(And my fellow nobles! Glad you liked it :D )

I'll post it in the UN now.

Then we can start gathering ideas for the next video - I'll produce a script - and then we can see about getting some people to perform the voices.

:salute: Long live the King.

Can I just add my congratulations too General _W. Very funny. You continue to set a high standard.

As always GW! :)

I don't have any new ideas for a new video yet (which is ok, it's still early) - but if anyone has ideas, feel free to suggest them!

In the meantime, I'm working on introduction segment that will play before all of the videos - like a sitcom kind of opening. I'd like to put all the names of the Nobles of Merlot in there, along with a picture.
I plan to use each of your CFC avatars as a default image - but I'm more than happy to swap that out for something else if you'd like. You could add a favorite picture of yourself, some prized object, or ... use your imagination! Something that represents you. Just keep it kid friendly, people! ;)

If you could get these images to me in the next week, that'd be best. Jost post them here, or PM them to me if you want to keep it a surprise from your fellow nobles.

:salute:

For inspiration purposes, here are the top 2 images I'm considering:

Hmm.. As this will be visible to all parties, wouldn't it be possible to spread disinformation?

Just a thought.:mischief:

If not, you could dedicate the next video to our hard-labouring workers. Let it not be forgotten that they're setting the foundations from which an empire shall emerge.:D

As for images, feel free to use any of these. Or not, if you so wish.:)

I was going to bring up this very idea later myself.
It's all up to His Majesty, of course, but the potential for disinformation is certainly there. Personally, I don't think we should try to push this too far - if we do, it probably won't work and would likely just backfire.
However - I think we might be able to subtly present ourselves as either stronger than we really are or as weaker than reality. Both have potential advantages, depending on the situation.
The key to making it work (if we are indeed to try it) is to start passing out accurate (but mostly useless) correct information so that people get in the habit of believing the reports. The disclaimer that I publish under the videos should mostly protect His Majesty from any serious blow-back.

Oh - and love the pictures mgs! I'll use one of them for sure. :)

Yes, force multiplication (or division) would be the way to go.

We cannot exactly lie about things that are notified in the pop-ups, e.g. founding religions or world wonders, or they'll catch on pretty quick.

Deception about our levels of expansion wouldn't work terribly well, either, as it would take just one explorer to prove us wrong..

But, our forces are mobile, and not neccessarily confined to our cities or even our lands.. Even with a strong spy network, they would have trouble keeping track of our numbers if we moved each unit around every few turns.

I don't think a tale of kings should go without King Arthur and his merry crew ;) Plus, there are two fights between Mordred and Arthur.

I also found a Knight of Ni, he's sort of... cuddly....
If requested, I'll also happily provide a voice (with a strong Eastern European accent) for future videos.

The first video is great, and I have a question about the animated bit: did you make it, or is it from an existing show?

How about a video of some nobles discussing early game optimization with a punchline about not having researched mathematics yet?

On more serious point, I agree with the point about misinformation. Realistically we only have one go on that and it should probably be used when misdirection would have a big impact. And when we do that, we need to coordinate it with other ways of misleading without being obvious.

Also on seriousish note, I think that in the videos as well as in any other contacts we would do well to hide the identity of our Imperial Specialists, other than what would be obvious (diplomat & turnplayer).
