Map: Islands (for lack of a better name)

Here's a map I recently created. I was just playing around with the civ3 editor but I think I created something that will be at least mildly fun to play. There are 9 islands, with a barbarian island in the center. Each island has every resource needed (since I'm still a civ3 newbie, that's how I like to play ), including uranium, etc., and has 6 goody huts.

All of the islands are "connected" by coast, so even the earliest boats can reach every other island on the map. There are 8 players total, but each player only has room for about 6-7 cities max on their island, so conquest is extremely important (I have yet to see how corruption affects this).

I'll post a minimap screenshot soon if I get around to it.

Have fun. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thumbs up Great Map!

Great map... I reduced the max turns for a technology back to 32 (40 in patch) when I played... that way I can play around with different defense and attack scenarios with more modern equipment. I am usually a land-based player ... this was one of the first games where ocean play was the key. Love it!!!

Thanks AHE! Any suggestions?

I was thinking of making the islands connected only by sea (i.e. not coast) because in the early game, the CPU players tend to build cities on your island just a tiny bit away from all your cities. It's sort of annoying.

But besides that, I hope I've done a good job with this map.

Hey man no oil?

You have about evened out the map for most all starting locations wich is great, but this is a sea based voyage in battleship seek with nuke and sub type of map. Yet in all this glory you have missed one thing; the nuclear sub cant carry the nuke (you have provided tons of uranium) because there aint know oil; easily fixed though. All in all good map, just slight difficulties. there im done now

me:rocket2:

There was oil in it when I created it! Maybe it's a patch bug, because I know that oil can no longer be placed on plains, and that IS where I put it.

You should have included a txt-file in the zip file (islands.txt or something like that) to identify the map. Also, it is easy to add a short description to the map.
I will be playing your map sometime soon.
