Nexus Buddy 2

Nexus Buddy 2 - Granny Editor for Civ 5 2.5.3

Ok! I finally finished the model in blender and converted into gr2.
I tried to create a LeaderObject file, also based in Pacal and a Leader Scene, but when I test it, I only see a Gray screen. Can you help me?
NOTE:I activated the options "Reload Unit System" and "Reload Landmark System".

If you are trying to set up a working 3D Leader mod then you should watch the YouTube tutorial I made earlier in the year. Hopefully that will help you get it working.

I learned about Nexus Buddy when I watched them. But do you know what causes gray screen? I assigned the gr2 file to original Pacal textures, modified Pacal Textures and Selassie textures; do I need to assign them again onte ftsxml file? Do I have to put all these files on Mod Buddy?

Not 100% sure what the issue is without looking at your mod.

There's no need to add the vanilla textures to your mod.

You definitely need to reference your new gr2 file from a .fxsxml file and both need to be added to VFS in your mod. I also recommend removing all the texture references from your .fxsxml - they seem redundant to me and only seem to cause issues.

Also did you use BR2 overwrite to make your gr2? You definitely need to do that with custom leaders.

I think the problem was that I didn't set the fxsxml to VFS, thank you! :cheers:
Also, is it common that Granny crashes when I load animations?

To load either gr2 models or animations into Granny Viewer without it crashing you need to first re-save them with Nexus Buddy 2. You can think of this as "cracking" the file if you want. The "Resave All GR2 Files in Directory" function under Additional Actions was created for this purpose: so that you could re-save a batch of models and animations without having to do them one by one.

Hi,

I downloaded and tried to run NexusBuddy (this is Windows 10, with .Net framework 4 instaleld and updated) and I consistently have it crash on start. Here's a dump:

...I have no idea if that's helpful in anyway.

I've used older versions of NexusBuddy (way back a year ago) without running into this problem, so I'm wondering what could be causing the difference.

Edit: Backtracking some old versions, the last version that works for me is 2.1. I don't know why but...

If you read over the last few pages of this thread you should find some pointers from others who problems getting the program running.

Hmm, okay. Bah I checked page 20 but not 19. I'll try some of those when I get a chance.

Edit, Yup, Nomad's solution worked for me. I'll repost for anyone else having trouble so it's more visibile:

The following have been helpful for me when trying to troubleshoot Nexus and NexusBuddy problems (includes Nutty's Regedit):

Nexus:

Read and follow this post.

Per above, do NOT use the SDK Launcher to open Nexus! Create a shortcut to the viewer directly.

NexusBuddy:

Make sure you have .NET Framework 4 installed.

NexusBuddy didn't work for me until I added the following into the NexusBuddy config file (use any text editor and paste it before the closing </configuration> argument):

Spoiler :
<runtime>
<loadFromRemoteSources enabled="true"/>
</runtime>

Hope this helps.

This isn't good...
Still having problems with leaderhead... The same gray screen:sad:
I can't think of anything else. Can you give full instructions of how to put the Leaderhead in ModBuddy correctly?

Sorry but I'm not going to add anything more tutorials then what I've already done with the video tutorials and the sample mod from that.

If you upload the mod then I may have time to look at why it's not working.

Hi,

Being new to Nexus Buddy 2 and Civ 5, trying to get use to importing/exporting for blender. I saw a tutorial about sequence between using blender 2.49 and 2.7x can't find it. Along lines, I'm trying to use Nexus Buddy to import gr2 skeleton and animation for Neverwinter Night 2. I'm using blender 2.73 to import fbx to N.B. but not certain how to import the gr2 skeleton in N.B. My goal is to import/export the skeleton and animation in blender since I understand blender better. I can see the gr2 skeleton in grannyviewer, not sure how to import it in Nexus Buddy.

Thanks

Granny implementations differ from game to game, and Firaxis' is definitely nonstandard, so you're unlikely to get anything useful out of another game's gr2 models using Nexus Buddy.

EDIT: Your use of the word "import" is confusing. Are you going FROM Civ5 to NWN2, or vice versa?

EDIT: Solved the issue by looking at some posts back.

I'm trying to create/edit skeletons and animations for NWN2 which are GR2 files. Also having the skeleton in blender allows editing of weight mapping in modeling the mesh. I can import GR2 into gmax with a plugin but there's no GR2 export. There is a export plugin for 3ds max but I don't have 3ds max. Blender has a mesh import/export for NWN2, the problem is import/export of the skeleton and animation(gr2) to/from blender. The skeleton is viewable in Grannyviewer so it is reading properly. I was able to create a fxb mesh for Nexus Buddy and create a gr2 mesh but the skeleton doesn't seem to import when opening the gr2 mesh.

Nexus Buddy 2.3.3 crashes whenever I open it. It doesn't even leave a dump :(. If someone would be kind enough to help, that would be great.

Edit: I have tried what people have done on previous pages, but to no avail. I might need to install an older version of the normal nexus, b ut I have no idea where I would obtain it.

I can't open it, when i want to open it it's not launching, i reinstalled not worked.

Just letting people know that I've made a few improvements to the Blender scripts for Nexus Buddy 2. See here.

Deliverator updated Blender Scripts for Nexus Buddy 2 with a new update entry:

13.1

* NB2 Import: Update all MAX_* values to allow complex models with 1000+ bones and many many vertices and triangles (e.g. Civ 6 Leaders) to be correctly imported to Blender.

* BR2 Export: Only export single World Bone if there is only one bone and it has the same name as the Armature. This will be case if the originally .nb2 only had one bone. This is useful for correctly export anything that has just a single bone (e.g. Civ 6 unit weapons and helmets).
