Hinge Of Fate Game - Edelweiss

The Italian Air Force bombed Palermo without the aid of recon, so I'm not sure of the results. I saw two hits, a lost population point, and a marketplace lost after 6 sorties.

RULES Clarification

I was looking at the rules and descriptions for Nature Units especially the water units and don't see at what times they are to be active?

Eric can you post here the months;

Gales
Typhoons
Hurricanes

are active and when they should be disbanded. Also I would suggest unit changes for these units if you are continuing revisions.

For reference, here's the post from Totalize:

Rules for Nature Units:

Hurricane Season in the Atlantic:
Starts in June and lasts until the end of November.
Any hurricanes generated out of season must stay in
port until the season begins. Once a hurricane leaves port
it may not return to port. Any hurricanes left on the map
in December must be disbanded.

Typhoon Season in the Pacific/Indian:
Starts in November and lasts until the end of April.
Any Typhoons generated out of season must stay in
port until the season begins. Once a Typhoon leaves port
it may not return to port. Any Typhoons left on the map
in May must be disbanded.

Gales:
Can occur any time of year but are most common in winter (Dec to March).
They can travel anywhere on the map ( any sea tile, they can't travel on land ).
Once a gale leaves a port it can never return.

The Gales Typhoons Hurricanes should automatically have a one month life expectancy not several months as currently designed. ANd when these storms attack once there gone! Same with Sandstorms. One storm, one month life expectancy.

The land units should have a one attack then disband if that is possible or if you want these units then make them immobile after the Nature Player places then on Turn 1. There has to be some revisions on these units.

Thanks for listening.

I'll note that a one-month life expectancy would make them need a movement of like 100 -- otherwise you'd have a tiny radius of appearance around the Nature cities.

As for land units, making them like Cruise Missiles could work...but I don't agree about making them immobile; crafty players would simply avoid the Nature tiles (you can find them in the .biq).

Marine Div kills Pinerolo Div, no damage
Marine Div kills Messina Air Def, no damage
Plane killed on the ground

Road N of Naples bombed
Rail N of Marseille bombed

ASW DD sinks in a gale SE from Halifax!

(oops, I didn't stop hitting the move key soon enough )

Pacific-

US CA destroys rails NE-E from Osaka
Devastator destroys roads there
P38 destroys roads 2N of Tokyo

Thanks E for pulling that out for me. I had deleted all the totalize links. Much appreciated!!!

And I'm just trying to stimulate some discussion on Nature sea units in general. But the sea units as designed have unlimited life for months, move in unnatural movement patterns, and continue to have the ability to make multiple landfall(bombarding) for months. I suggest that at least that once a Gale, typhoon or hurricane bombards a coastal time that it is then disbanded.

As to the land units...all Dengue Fever and malaria units be confined to jungle tiles. And not be allowed to occupy road/rail tiles. Also may not attack cities though colonies okay.

Paotow:

5T NE of Saigon:

DD 5/5 vs sub

6T E of Nagasaki:
B7a missed US ASW DD
BB 3/4 vs ASW DD

S of Canton:
MB, BB, 2 B7a & DB all missed
Army reduced to 7/13 by
2 DB, 2 MB, HB

NE of Ichang:
HB damages IC 4/6

That last point is already in the rules although I don't think it's followed very well :nono:

Regarding request for changes, let's look at Hurricanes as an example.

In the game there is only one Hurricane source and it produces 2 storms per year.

In the real world, there is an average of 6.5 hurricanes and 12 tropical storms in
the North Atlantic each year. So If I made "attack only once" hurricane units, there
would have to a lot more of them per year. The best way to do it would probably
to make them a cruise missile unit, but I'm not sure if this is possible for a sea
unit. I could make them an air unit like the kamikaze, with a very long range.
But then nature would need some kind of scouting units in order to find targets
at sea.

Hey guys I was going to do the turn last night but started some new meds last night and decided to get some rest and let it take effect.

I can play the German turn tonight as long as these steroids they got me on don't mess me up to much.

Sorry for the delay and thanks for the patience!

Where do I begin...

OK, first I had to reload the game. I just restored my computer to factory condition and have been rebuilding it. I downloaded HoF and went to play my turn. Unfortunately, there was no sound, and the game only got to the screens where you choose your city build before it crashed. Turns out I failed to install Conquests using compatibility mode and also failed to install the 1.22 patch properly. After that getting corrected, I reloaded the game. No moves had been made so there were no changes to gameplay.

Mussolini (I'm blaming him) ordered a massive airstrike against Palermo. Convinced that this strategy had hindered the Allies in the past, all military sense was ignored on this dubious venture. It was a turkey shoot for the Americans.

  • Stuka hits a cruiser, looks like CLAA Atlanta maybe? 4/4 to 2/4
Ju-88 wisely avoids Sicily and bombs US Marines in southern Italy, 5/5 to 2/5

After two months of deceptive measures and operating under strict radio silence, an Italian transport fleet escorted by BC Vittorio and the last remaining CL Cardona launch an brilliant surprise attack on Oran!

CL Cardona bombards Oran, hits a transport 4/4 to 2/4
Vittorio's guns open up on Oran, hit another transport 4/4 to 2/4
Italian Marine Corps leads the assault on the beaches, where they are met by recuperating US mechanized forces. 6/6 MC vs. 3/4 Mech Div, 1/6 MC
2nd Italian 6/6 MC vs. 4/4 US Infantry division, 3/4 US inf div
Italian fleet retreats. I unloaded the wounded MC into Spain before realizing that this may have been an illegal move. If it is, I can disband it next turn.

Here's the implication of your Rouge wounded MC unit AB...Spain and Gibraltar:
Allied forces are restricted to Gibraltar and cannot enter the surrounding Spanish territory unless the Axis enter Spain. If the Axis enter Spain then the Allies can move through Spain without restriction. OH MY AB :D!!!
