Hello, I was wondering since my computer was well enough to handle civilization 4/sims 2/3, that my computer could run civilization 5.

However, Im not actually asking if my computer would run smoothly, or have graphic problems, As I know my computer is under the minimum requirements. I do know that some of the newer games will not install the software at all if the computer specs are below minimum requirements, and was wondering if I had spent the forty bucks to buy civilization 5 if it would atleast install, or if theres any instructions/tricks on how to get around to installing this game.

I have been playing civilization since civilization 3 and would like to know if I could start playing without spending hundreds in getting a new computer.

Thank you.

I'm pretty sure nobody can tell you that if you don't provide info about your system. I am not a computer specialist but I know that some, if not most people on this forum can tell you if you can run civ5 on your computer if you provide the info from your system for example from DxDiag.

I meant that on some games there is software designed that when you try to install the game, the game reads your computer and will not install it because its under minimum requirements.

I have two computers, the one I played civilization 4 on is a laptop, which I do not have the specs for, I will come back and update it when i find the info.

My macintosh, specs.
10.5.8
1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (2 GB Minimum for civ 5)
1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2 GB Minimum for civ 5)
GMA 950

My laptop specs (A Guess; will fill out entire information later)
Vista
1.44 Ghz
2 GB RAM

Im kind of locked on money so this is the best specs I can get.

Yeah i know, I think my game was even under the minimum requirements of civ 4.
But the game (civ 4) never said "This game is under minimum requirements, Will not Install"

And it also turned out to be playable, even with lower requirements. I was just wondering that anyone that installed this game (Civ 5) noticed a message like this and figured a way around it, or if the game will at least install nonetheless. I'd like to know before I would buy the game only to find it wouldn't even install.

I would probably play it on vista though. As there I am playing civ 4, sims 2/3, and my mac only has, world of wowcraft :mischief:

I don't think you'll be able to run Civilization 5 well with either computer, sorry. You can always try the demo first of course (which is free), you'll need to download and install Steam first (which the game requires).

Well if it doesn't play well then thats fine, I will give the demo a go though, if the demo actually lets me install then I will know what to buy.

Guess I'm sticking with consoles for a while, bought MAG for 20 bucks less on the ps3, I won't be able to get a computer 'till christmas, this can be locked, thanks for answers.
