Civ 5 G&K extremely slow over Wi-Fi, normal over wired Ethernet

Playing from a Lenovo W520 laptop through a Cisco CVO to the office network. I play when docked, speed is great. I undock, game immediately slows to a crawl -- selecting a unit takes over a minute, many screen updates take forever, etc. This is 100% reproducible. Post instructions and I can take and send logs.
 
Assuming SP, but is it MP?

Game plays fine when started without the dock?

Anything else attached to the dock?

I'm guessing that there's something else attached to the dock, and either the game or Windows chokes when it gets unplugged.
 
SP. Attached to the dock are keyboard, mouse, monitor. I can try disconnecting all those and seeing what happens.
