so, a frine dand i have been playing some friendly multiplayer games. mainly we played on huge maps with only about 8 to ten players, to allow plenty fo room for expansion without getting too much on eachothers backs. settings were all standard, but we noticed 2 main things:

1. the AI is waaay more passive than in SP games. is this due to the fact that were all spaced out so much, as they build wonders and the like and do the world congress just fine?

2. there seems to be an severe lack of recources. while there are plenty of normal recources, theyre pretty clustered in certain area's. then you have the luxuries, which are available ind ecent amounts as well but for some reason seem to be mainly hte same types, so not much possibility for trades or monopolies as you either both have an bunch or both lack it entirely. would setting recources on abundant fix this?

this is with all DLC by the way.

knowing this, what would be good settings for more friendly games? a lot of AI's? abundant recources? are certain maps better suited for multiplayer than others bar obvious things such as highlands being OP for inca's and small islands highly favoring naval based civs? i'd assume abudant recources, max number of AI's on an huge map, and sticking to maps that tend to focus on 1-3 large continents.

thanks in advance

Well, you want some friendly settings so people wont conflict - but you want AI to play aggressive?

When you provide space for AIs , they tend to settle many cities and prioritize it over aggression. Especially on lower settings like prince, emperor etc.
If you want a stronger and more aggressive AIs - choose immortal difficulty level for you and your friends.

Lack of resource diversity is what you get when you play large maps. If you want more luxury diversity - set map size to standard or small.
