Independence Hall is another Wonder I want to include to fill out an under-utilized tech. I've assigned the Hall to Constitution, as Constitution only has the Jail building.

Independence Hall offers access to all Government civics, but keep in mind that by this point Representative Democracy is probably only a tech or two away and Rifling for Federal is also pretty close. Only Fascism is far off. (I have an idea for one more Government civic, but it would actually be based more around its Civic Building than anything else, and it can wait until we decide to look at civics.)

Thanks! I took everything on your list we don't have at C2C and I'm going to implement it Thanks! :goodjob:

I did some mods long ago for some of these and implemented some new SDK effects to give the wonders unique effects (so their not stepping on the toes of other wonders). I can't recall all of them right now but if your interested I can try to dig them up or brainstorm new things.

One that I do remember was having the Springfield armory reduce the cost to upgrade all units.

Also I like the All Government Civics idea for Independence Hall that Vokarya suggests, it's later in the game then traditional opening up of Gov Civics in Classical age (After all the Greeks DID in fact practice all forms of government), but given your greater number of civic options.

Trafalgar Square is yet another Wonder in the parade to fill out semi-empty techs on the Tech Tree. The Square is available once you reach Grand War, as the only other thing there is the Ship of the Line. It combines the Colossus effect (+1 :commerce: from water tiles) with +4 XP for water units. The Colossus has already gone obsolete by this point, so the two won't stack at all.

And one more Wonder for one more Tech. Las Vegas Strip fleshes out Legalized Gambling. This provides a huge gold boost (+100% :gold: and +3 free Celebrity), along with +1 :) from all Casinos. Casinos are really underutilized right now (the -15% :hammers: is probably too much) and giving them some more bonuses would be useful.

View attachment 365141View attachment 365142View attachment 365143

There is also a chance that someone on the Strip might hit the jackpot. You can take the jackpot as either tax revenue or a temporary happiness bonus. The gold is a lot, but the Strip doesn't show up until the Modern Era. If it proves to be too much, then we can bring the numbers down.

Won't that stack with the International Port and the Financial characteristic?

Yes, but International Port only boosts its own city and Financial only kicks in at 4+ commerce tiles. We'll have to see how it works out.

Am I reading that correctly that your Trafalgar Square cause ALL cities to get the Colossus effect?

That seems REALLY strong, also I don't really like the idea of a strait recycle even if it is separated in time from the original. Why not have a purely Military effect such as increased experience gained by all Navel units, faster production of Navel units in this city, a permanent strength bonus to all navel units, that would after all be more thematically consistent. Also can a naval unit with X promotion levels be a prerequisite much like for the Heroic Epic.

I'm not sure if it will be enough, but I had an idea for a story-hooked wonder: The Centennial Hall. It is a building from Wroclaw, Poland; when build, in 1912, it was had the biggest concrete dome in the world. It also had biggest pipe organs of the time. The name stems from the anniversary of proclamation An Mein Volk by Frederick William III of Prussia (the king was asking the people of Prussia and all Germany to rise against Napoleon). It is still popular object today; while advancements in building techniques led to it being much less impressive, it might be an idea for Industrial-era wonder.

That's probably one of the better sites in Poland that could be a wonder, the other seems to be a large Castle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malbork_Castle but the Hall would be an easier model to make. Still it seems a bit low on the list of things I'd go for and its effects would presumably be cultural which is something that's well covered with other wonders.

You know, this could give some sort of a major bonus against an invader's civilization. This could be great against warmongers like Montezuma and Genghis.

Because Poland has consistently beaten back every invading army??? :crazyeye:

On a different note I'd like to add some ancient Meso-American sites as very early Wonders. I've already listed the Nazca Lines on an earlier wonder list and I'm going to add some more sites and some ideas for effects.

Nazca Lines
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazca_Lines

The Nazca culture had notable skill in textiles and it's theorized that ropes helped to lay out the lines so I would make Weaving the per-requisite tech. The purpose of the lines are unknown but many animal figures appear so I think a combat bonus of +100% vs Animals or +100% experience from fighting animals would be interesting, this early in the game animal attacks are dangerous and the lose of a scout can be fairly annoying. Some additional effect is probably called for as well, the area is a desert so a bonus yield of food or hammers on desert terrain might be interesting and helpful in thouse situations when you have a desert start but thouse effects wouldn't have much synergy. Obsolete near the start of the Classical era.

Chaco Pueblo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaco_Culture_National_Historical_Park

Because Chaco is associated with a series of strange perfectly strain 'roads' radiating away from it I thought a Road related effect would be interesting. +100% speed of route construction (Cart path, road, paved road) would be interesting and useful, naturally it will obsolete at Railroads. Throw in a Priest slot or a Trade Route yield bonus (the site was the center of a trade and spiritual network after all) if you think more is necessary. I would put this wonder at Pottery.

Cahokia Mounds
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cahokia_Mounds_State_Historic_Site

This was the largest city north of Mexico until well into modern times. So possibly a bonus that helps you make a big city, such as a large single city Health bonus, or even a 'no :yuck: in this city' effect comparable to the No unhappiness effects that are common. I'm thinking this should be available at Mining to reflect the earthen mound construction practices. Expiration might be a bit rocky so obsolescence should coincide with some :health: techs and buildings such as Sanitation.

Lastly the Sphinx and Pyramids should be switched in their tech locations, the Sphinx is older then the Pyramids (the exact amount is controversial, orthodoxy puts it just one generation before, heterodox theories put it a millennium earlier but in a lost 'original' face which was carved down to create the modern shape). In any case the Pyramid is too expensive to build that early in the game.

No, that's because the Centennial Hall is a memory of An Mein Volk, which was basically a plea to all peoples living in the lands of Prussia to rise against the Napoleonic invaders.

Then again, as far as Wikipedia goes, after this document, "The proclamation, which affirmed the unity of crown, state and nation, led to the massive expansion of the Prussian army, and to the creation of militias, paramilitary organizations, and Freikorps "

So it could give some 10% faster training of all infantry in cities.

Here's a Wonder I want to include in the next release. This is Blarney Castle. It becomes available at Chivalry and goes obsolete at Thought Scanning. It does a few things that I think are different from most other Wonders. First of all, it is a non-military Wonder at a military tech. I like when we can mix up military and non-military abilities on the same tech. Second, it is a rare Great Spy producing Wonder -- we don't have nearly enough of them to balance out every other kind of Great Person. Third, it grants a free promotion (Deception I) to Spy units. There aren't a lot of bonuses being given out to Spy units, and I think this gives Blarney Castle a unique niche.

Fourth is that this is a Wonder that improves your relations with other leaders. It does this with a recurring Event. Every 50 turns (modified by game speed), it will choose a random leader, give you +1 :) in all cities for 5 turns, and have a 50% chance to give you a permanent +1 relations bonus with that leader. This does use a Python callback, but only to determine if the turn number is right for the event to go off. I tried extensively to get this to work using only XML, and the game always crashes, so a Python callback is needed.

When I read about a new Great - Spy themed wonder, I thought of another one we could incorporate: Biuro Szyfrów (eng. Cipher Bureau). It's a place where Polish mathematicians and cryptographers broke the Enigma codes in 1930s. It has nice Wikipedia article in English: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biuro_Szyfrów and in my opinion, it could be a good early Modern Era wonder. I was thinking about linking it somehow to one of the one-trick-ponies we have, but Telegraph is probably too early, and others are too late... I'm not exactly sure what it should do, beside giving you an increased chance of generating a great spy, but I think due to its ties to Enigma machine, it could fire an event when you are at war with another player that gives you a bunch of espionage points with that player, representing various new upgrades to Enigma and them being overcome.

Isn't Blarney Castle from C2C?

Yes, but only because I put it there in the first place. I used to be a C2C modder, but I left when I decided I really didn't like the direction that mod was going in.
