I can't believe my fpt, but I guess with 23 cities with Candi's, and 7 Holy Sites, you get up there. I also rush bought all faith buildings in late conquests just before taking Washington...
This game took a long time - I focused so much on water tiles, and didn't work specialist slots much in late expos to grow as much as possible. Definitely my biggest navy ever, maybe biggest military as well. My Range BBs took forever to get from India to USA due to no world wrap, several of them not taking a shot until taking Washington. I only had 5 techs to finish, so I just steamrolled my long-time E buddies. The mainland invasions weren't too hard either, as I had early air superiority. I could have left Oda with one interior city, but took cash in peace, and he actually stayed relatively strong. Harun was also left with 3 cities, and he stayed plenty aggressive with neighbors as well. I recalled Siam 2-3x, and recalled Bill-o from Maria as I started my E push.
I was getting a Heathen barb ship almost every turn off an island camp W of Malacca - I gifted a ton before I started to think it wouldn't hurt to have a lot more Privateer-->DDs. I ended up with 38, 23 BBs, 15 subs.
After Electronics (I like Infantry there) I went top of the tree to get wonders and decided to take Internet just to apply more pressure, but never flipped anyone. A CV would have been very easy, but I never went into Aesthetics. I gapped out on more Honor - I didn't realize until way late that gold for kills is only 2nd level on NQ Mod. So my last 3 policies went into Honor. Full Piety and Exploration, 4 in Patronage, 3 in Commerce, and 9 in Freedom.
With naval melee getting movement after battle, it was so easy to keep pushing by burning GAdm's for insta-heal. I think I created 11 of them total. I wish they had more than 4 movement - you had to really plan ahead to have them be anywhere useful.
Again, I think the religion sub-game might have been much more interesting with not founding, and then seeing who tries to convert. I used a lot of TR just to get pressure to/from various cities, part of why I had 9 cities with 3+ religions.
From a scenario standpoint, I think I should have given all civs but Japan another 4-8 Oil, and scattered more Fish throughout the map. Plus given every civ at least one desert tile for Petra. Perhaps given Japan the Liberty or Exploration opener instead, with the idea of incentivizing him to settle islands more (he only settled 2 in my game, which were captured by myself and USA). India needed more food. It really was a crap-shoot as to how things developed on the mainland in all the Firetuner play-throughs. The idiot AI who sent his 2nd or 3rd Settler far away always got slaughtered - a solid 3 city core is essential.
I really want to make a Solomon's or Pacific WWII scenario, but with Civ6 coming, it probably wouldn't be played much!
