WWI Irish Republican Army Trench Infantry

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/Irish_Infantry.zip

Note: Recycled from an old Nonnob unit enabled me to wrap it together fast, yet has some head wobbling to it

IRELAND Vickers m1927 State Helmet

A direct - though cheaply made of light steel - copy of the German M16. The Irish Army wanted to buy German surplus or even new manufacture, but were unable to because of trade restrictions placed on Germany after the Great War by the Allied Powers.
The Irish government then contracted with Vickers Engineering, the UK firm, to produce a straightforward copy of the German M16.

A stupid question so forgive me.

Opening the zips for this French Rifleman, and the Irish WW1 infantry makes me look at files that are named x_britishRM.flc and x_Italian.flc.
Haven't had time to put into a game to compare but I hope it's just the old name that got stuck.
I am hopefully looking at the converted units OR has there been made a mistake Winter ???

Cemo

Cemo,

Winter just didn't rename the flc's is all when he did the conversions.

Hey one question winter?

Why is the modern Infantry on hault? is it legal reasons?
partly so- when I wanted to make it I previewed it and was told by CFC and Firaxis to "see if I couldnt rather not do so" (hint hint) and then, later I linda lost interest over making all those other units... but don't worry- there shall be one some day...

This stuff is great. Any chance you might be able to go a W.I.N.T.E.R verion of this unit I made a while back?

That was the best I could do but looking at the above I bet you would do wonders with it, was going for the SS woodland camo smock look.
Sure :) If you make a version that hasn't got that shield in the default animation ;)... how did u manage to make this cammo, btw?

All modding activity halted permanently

Recon, Zee, Wyrmshadow, Anybody - please search through your misc. folder if you should have any of my unfinished unit flics (Japanese HMG) an/or any biQ files of my mod I might have sent you within the last months. Partitions collapsed- all is gone!!!

Well crap and a half. You never sent me any of THAT stuff.

AAAARGH! (1) How do partitions collapse!?!? (2) can a data recovery firm salvage matters?

It can happen for several reasons.
The most common is hardware based failures, such as as head crash. A data recovery firm might well be able to recover data from the disk, but at a cost of several hundred $ to several thousand $.
The ability to recover also depends on the disk type and the format type. For example, if it was a spanned volume covering several disks (but without a parity drive, like raid 5) then the recovery is very difficult. If the disk is a SCSI drive, then the odds go way up. If it is an IDE drive, recovery depends on the type of crash and the brand of disk. The best IDE to recover from is Seagate, the worst is IBM. But the larger role is the type of crash, and what recover efforts were made by the user. The more aggressive the user got, the more difficult the recovery would be. A simple thing like a bad application that forced a write to a bad sector and blew the partition table is easy to recover from. Other crashes can be impossible. For example, I saw a photo of a head crash that removed almost all the magnetic particles from a platter. No recovery possible.

What can be learned from this? Have a backup plan, or be prepared to suffer the consequences.

I have personally lost data of immeasurable worth, and despite my care, and my sending the drive to the most expensive data recover lab in the country, I still got nothing back. So I'm not blaming Winter for his problems, since I have suffered the same. I'm just putting the info out there on what can happen and what can be done.

Unfortunately that was the Backup Plan- the entire machine is due to be picked up on monday at noon for extensive tampering (amongst other issues the original HDD was faulty, hence formated after data transpher), the drive I backed my files up being my own to keep while the machine'd be in maintainance :(

This is how it happened: I set up 4 same size logical drive partitions à 50 gigs: C (System); D; E; F and transphered all valuable data from the non faulty sectors of the other HDD to D. Then, for security reasons all of the old HDD were formated to return to the company the computer was purchased from (bad idea). But what could happen? After all I am merely 2 and a half days from general maintainance and the newly set up system is perfectly clean... well, I needed to make some print outs and couldnt find my driver cd for lexmark x83 and decided to go to the official lexmark site and download those on the fly... (bad idea 2) ... after installation I realised to my astonishment that the driver files installed themselves on a new, virtual partition (a mirror of C) where they were residing on their own... I rebooted after being unable to remove these files or the virtual partition- and the reboot was unsuccessful- ran bootfix and C partition allowed an OK boot... but only C appeared, taking up all disk space, yet merely having the 50 gigs available. The other partitions just didn't exist anymore - I tried many things to reactivate the partitions but no reference was found via diskpart and other programes... so I had to format everything again... and that's it, basically...

My game files and moddings, Cv's, Porn (hey, I'm old enough), Audio and music files went out the chimney :(
