City States Update

Its not given though if they are city states in the main game or just in the scenario though

Kyzyl is a real city? I though that was a joke, but then I googled it... ;)

Anyways, they can switch the types around depending on the mood of the coder assigned to it, for most city states, there are arguments for all types after all... They can also move one of the two cultural ones to a existing militaristic one and that one to a religious one, just as an example. Or they decided to change the formula... ;) So many possibilities...

They've only ever switched cities to Religious or Mercantile though. They don't even seem to follow any pattern or logic half the time, they just kind of do it.

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but the recent Dutch preview had Antananarivo as a Zulu city (at around 4:40, when they show the espionage screen). Given that Antananarivo is in Madagascar and that the same screen also shows Valletta under Zulu control, I would guess that it's a new city state that the Zulu conquered.

Maybe, but we should probably wait to see it and get some information on it before confirming to ourselves that it is indeed a city state. Does look like it though, although it's of no use without a colour or type.

And yet, Budapest, of all cities, is militaristic!! Honestly, a switch between those two would be most adequate.

Yeah, I would clearly choose Budapest as a cultural city, even if the history of Hungary would suggest it to be a military one

I was playing last night as China and saw Hong Kong as as City State, why?

shouldnt Hong Kong be a Chinese city like Macau? or both city states?

Hong Kong spent a long time separate from China and is today still an autonomous.

No. Hong Kong is an independent state who broke away from the British Empire in 1997 and is not a part of China just like how Singapore is not part of Malaysia, Monaco is not part of France, & Vatican City & San Marino aren't part of Italy

No, it is technically a part of China.

Macau would make a great city-state too but could be redundant with Hong Kong and not quite as well known.

No Hong Kong is part of China today, it is just given a lot of autonomy, this is part of China's 'One Country, two systems' policy. Unfortunately it is nothing like the example list above, which actually are independent states

as far as I know Hong Kong is the same kind of city as Macau, both were given to China the first in 1997 by Britain after 156 years and the second one in 1999 by Portugal after 442 years, and the differences we can see is both are administrive regions of China with different laws than the rest of the country, per example in China is forbidden gambling but you can do it if you go to Macau with all the casinos and stuff, its like a chinese Las Vegas.

I really don't understand, why Kyzyl???

There is a thread in the 2K Games forum called "Why no Kongo, Italy, Sioux, Tannu Tuva etc". Its original title included Spain, Poland and others, and is always changing as new civilizations are confirmed and released. Tannu Tuva would probably remain in the title forever, so they included Kyzyl as a joke.

Or maybe they really like Huun Huur Tu
