Hannibal/Quatronia Diplomacy

That letter needs to be improved. Tell them WHY we built the mids. Tell them that it is becuase THEY simply wouldn't get back to us on what they wanted for machinery, so we were forced to get mids instead. Let them know we were constantly trying to work with them but they shunned us.

Make em feel guilty, and like we were on their side the whole time. Keep them always thinking we are idiot push-overs who will always want to be their friends. Let em always feel SAFE with us.

I agree.

Greetings Team Quatronia,

We just wanted to let you know that we have elected to build the Pyramids with our great person, rather than bulb Machinery. We wanted to organize a tech trade with you, but we did not hear back, so we were forced to simply act in our own best interest.

I hope all else is well in the land of Quatronia and please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help the Quatronian people.

Regards,
TheMike

Well that's better. Do send it fast, since I am afraid they may DoW on us next turn (if not this one).

My only concern (and I just noticed this...) is we may not be able to reach Q, or anyone else for that matter. Looking at the way the land has been shaped and the cultural boundaries, it appears units can leave the island to reach the mainland, but units of another civ cannot reach the island because they'd have to cross ocean tiles. Assuming there's no coastal access point for our triremes, we can only partially block expansion to the mainland. They'd be able to sail their galleys across and unload the same turn if they coordinate their moves right with a possible retreat for the galley back into their own ocean waters. We could sink the galley during our turn only if they're really dumb and leave it on a coastal tile, but even then it would be too late - they'd have the settler offloaded by then. To make an effective choke for Q or for anyone else for that matter, we'd need land units waiting to ambush the settler and whatever escort is around. Please correct me if I'm wrong and there is in fact someway for us to reach them before Astro...

EDIT: If I'm right about not being able to reach Q, there is a way to stuff them that doesn't require a land attack force. In a nutshell, we declare on them while placing a trireme on every coastal tile that borders one of their ocean tiles. These are the choke-points. It would force them to attack our triremes to get through to the mainland. The downside? It'd take a lot of them to pull it off. Judging by this screenshot, we'd need five to block off all of the visible choke-points (going West to East: 1) tile 1 SW of clams 2) tile 1 E of clams 3) tile 1 S of second clams 4) tile 7 E of first clams and 5) tile 1 SE of choke-point #4). Is this feasible? Probably not for all of them, though we could funnel them east with a few well-placed triremes to block off land for us.

How many triremes do we need to attack Q? 2-3?

Too many now. Cyrus has obtained MC, and I'm 100% sure he'll gift it to his conspiring buddy.

Well, I feel like gifting it to Ragnar too in that case :p

To The Mavericks,

We would like to extend our congratulations on your construction of the Pyramids. We hope they will serve you well in years to come.

We have received your messages, and we appreciate your continuing willingness and enthusiasm to make a technology trade. As we have already specified, it is not possible to make a technology trade. We apologize for any problems we may have caused.

Also, I, Ambassador Bowsling, recently had a lengthy discussion with one of your senior officials, obsolete. While this chat helped solidify our alliance, we also received some bewildering messages. We were told that three Amazon galleys were traveling towards our continent behind a work boat and with no clear intentions. This exploring work boat recently came in to sight of Quatronian sentries, with absolutely no sign of galleys. It would be very reassuring to know what obsolete meant by these claims.
Best Regards,
Ambassador Bowsling

Ahah! Yes, a while back I had mentioned in-game to a turn-player about some galleys from Cyrus near their scout boat heading down that way. It was a bluff to break the stone-wall. Unfortunately nothing can break those two conspiring nit-wits.

I think we need to write an emergency letter right away to Carthage and tell them how their warrior unsettles us so close to our civilian populace, and to move it back where it came from, OR ELSE!

I'm proposing to send them the email by tomorrow morning latest, the following would be text:

To Team Q,

Further advancement of your warrior towards our lands is considered extremely hostile by us. If you do not turn your warrior around right now we will consider this open declaration of war by your nation.

You have been warned!

This is the message which I will send tomorrow morning latest, I was going intentionally for very harsh tone:

To Team Q,

There has been a rumor in cities of vast Mavericks empire of the warrior wandering around the jungle in proximity of our land. These rumors happen to be the true we realize now.

Over past couple of centuries the Maverick people reached and asked for alliance with Team Q and almost all of our pleas fell into deaf ears. Therefore the free people of Maverick empire agreed upon next statement:

The warrior west of our city is to turn around and head west right now. Should this warrior make a step in any other direction we will consider this to be open act of hostility by your people and we will consider that move as a declaration of war by team Q upon our people.

We are tired of being ignored by your leaders and this request is an ultimatum.

You have 36 hours to respond to this message, you have been warned!

The destiny of our future relations lays in your hands.

On behalf of Maverick people
Ahmedhadzi, Junior Diplomat.

Guys feel free to change anything, I will be sending this message 8am EST, monday.

Monday is too late. I'm most likely going to DoW on them before then.

OK. I will send it now, wait one turn and then DOW, I want to show that we did everything in our power to avoid this, especially if you send them pvm.

Message sent, lowered time asking for response to 24 hour, I don't want to keep you waiting Obs. Now when we met Pacal, I still think we have chance in this game.

Haha, Mavericks 1 - Quatronia 0, see below

Greeting to the Maverick people,

At this time the Continuum of Quatronia wishes to convey a message of peace. It has come to our attention that you perceive the lone Quatronian Warrior, who is wandering the pennisula of the mainland that separates our great nations, as a threat to your peoples. Our warrior has a mission of exploration and is under instruction only to defend himself. He has already encountered many barbarians that freely roam the mainland.

It is confusing that this one warrior would provoke such a reaction among your people considering that we currently share an open border policy and non-aggression pact. As peace is the intent of the Continuum, let it be known that we will oblige with your wishes and proceed due WEST with our warrior. Otherwise, the Maverick people will be responsible for a declaration of war and any losses as a result of a conflict will rest on your shoulders.

We would also like to remind the Maverick people that our two nations signed a non-aggression pact valid until turn 100. As it is currently turn 83, a declaration of war would violate a previously-agreed on treaty.

Best Regards,
Ambassador Bowsling
