I never had a chance to play Alpha but was it a good game and I havent heard sence if firaxis is going to make a new version of it have u?

If you have some way of getting it to play on XP, I'm sure it could be found. I have a copy somewhere. It was a really cool variant of Civ. The features I liked best were: terraforming, The custom unit builder, the ability to settle in the sea, and the futuristic tech tree. Worth trying to get a copy of. Please Sid, re-visit SMAC!

Gal Civ is a true space 4x, while AC is not really a space game at all. It is just civ on another planet.

On a side note HomeoftheUnderdogs offers SMAC and SMAX free of charge since firaxis has stopped supporting it.
