America: This is the first civ I played as when the game first came out, and I found it lackluster. But I've since revisited them, and with a little experience playing as other civs, I see just how powerful America is. I bought a clam tile for 25 gold, and had a promoted scout that could see like 3-4 tiles away. It was awesome.

And since somebody made a good argument for Germany earlier.(thought they are still boring.)

Polynesia: I love finding early trading partners, but Polynesia just has nothing to follow up. If the moai came earlier then maybe I could so something with them by combining the moai battle bonus with their warriors -10% bonus; but as they are, they are just not good enough.

Maybe if the moai could be built on tiles you don't own. That would be cool to make some coastal fortress areas, but alas, it is not so.
 
You only need to play Denmark a couple of times to realise just how much stronger it generally is to be able to land, attack, and defend on land than to attack from the water and be still stuck in the water next turn (although being able to sit under a melee ship for protection is an asset), particularly since you can also do so with ranged/siege.

I'm not sure how many have played Denmark here, but be aware that you keep the movement of an embarked unit the turn when you disembark - which means that with Denmark's +1 movement for being embarked, every unit has +1 movement when it moves onto land. Embarked movement is also usually faster than ground movement, and moreso with Commerce. So you can land a 2-move (on land) catapult and still have 3-4 moves left with the unit, so you can move as well as set up and fire.
I have played them, and there isn't much to utilize the UA with (I try to give every civ a chance). I never play on small islands but I don't play on Pangeae either. On every Fractal map I play the UA has some purpose, just not a whole deal important.

Other than India's UA, I can't think of another UA that's more lackluster (maybe Ottomans). I even like England's UA, if that sounds ironic, and the extra spy is nice.

I don't really need to land/attack right away, so I never found the most optimal use for it. I have utilized siege units before, but they always run the risk that the city might pop a tireme at some point. If it's not one hit KO it makes the catapult an easy target for the city.

Arabia: I like being the guy with lots of gold and Arabia is great for that. Trade routes will generate high amounts of gold and late game oil trading can make you rich if you have a lot. The Bazaar is amazing for trade and the camel archer is really awesome almost as good as the keshik.

Polynesia: Their UU is only useful for a short time and their UA is not very rewarding. Their UI is
OK, but it doesn't make up for their overall low usefulness.

I'll note that I think some good players are afraid to experiment with lower difficulty levels (which can be made challenging by avoiding tech beelines). Or feel, if a civ can't contribute to an impressive finish time on Deity, it's worthless. Never mind that Denmark is insanely fun to play esp. if you let yourself become the underdog.

England: Due to the new techtree in GnK i get industrialisation most often before cannons, I like longbowmen and +1 range gattling guns, the additional spy is also great.

Germany: I don't like the UA, I see no use in amassing brutes/warriors so early in the game almost bancrupting yourself; maybe brutes should be maintenance free. But with higher city defenses brutes have no use. When I hit education I tend to build universities with Germany you have to build a lot of Landsknechts first. The upgradepath of Landsknechts, lancers, anti-tank and helicopter gunship is like rollercoasting. Promotions for one kind don`t necessarily meet the demands of a later unit. IIRC upgraded panzers lose their +1 movement which sucks.

Mongol - Basically a warmonger nation. Focusing on Science first to have tech edge over the AI then military to make City States easy pickings. For me, this is a more satisfying way to expand and to get resources. So they're a +1 for me.

France - Usually, my games last till the Modern Era and their trait becomes obsolete after that. Their units are beast though. But still -2.

The Celts - Their UA only affects unimproved forests, so all it does if you are lucky enough to have forest tiles is guarantee a pantheon. It will ultimately not help in the long run to actually found a religion, as you will eventually chop or improve all of your forest tiles, eliminating the bonus. Their UU is okay and the UB is okay, but I don't really see anything interesting coming from this combination of unique items.

Netherlands - I've already defended them in a previous post, but I didn't actually vote for them yet. Great UA for trading in the early game and maintaining happiness, great UI for fast growth, and decent UU for naval situations.

Babylon: people keep seeming to think that they got nerfed alot but they really didn't. Just because saving up the scientists to the end doesn't work so well isn't a bad thing. Academies have been buffed and help speed you up earlier. If you get a good mountain start or second city you will be set.

The Aztecs allows Dow me for nothing, not to mention there UA isn't very good for me, as I dislike warmongering. The UU is ok but i hate having to spam them so that i can upgrade later. And the UB is ok but nothing all that good, unless you devote yourself to the growth thing. aka... fertility, Artemis, tradition. I like liberty better aswell. I can see the reasons people like them, but i just don't.

Who has being hitting on Denmark? Its like the opgradet England! And im sorry Sweden but the AI is too bad for u to get somthing for the UA

Germany will probably get eliminated soon, but I had to upvote them at least once since they're the civ I tend to play most. :) I've read others' opinions about landsknechts, but my only complaint about them is how deceptive it is to upgrade To them, since they're so cheap. I often forget to save up enough gold to upgrade them on again to lancers, and that's when the price really jumps. As for the UA, it really helps to get off to a fast start during the goodie hut era!

The Aztecs just don't have staying power for the long game. They start quick with a great UU but then fizzle, and the sacrificial culture thing isn't something I care much about since I rarely play for CVs.

I like Ethiopia the most out of any religious civ because you can get a pantheon and religion early, not one or the other. Great for a tradition opener.

Huns: good early game, but stinks in late game.

I absolutely adore everything about the Celts! The UA is perfect for an early religion. UB is good.
Pictish Warrior is great as a spearman unique and pretty good as a heli.

Again, the way the Mongols warmonger isn't even close to the way I warmonger and I have yet to see AI Genghis do even decently in any of my games.

Ow. Veeter. Zane. Im glad germany went this fast. i like playing as them but against them ruins my fun.

And Babs is the bee's knees. Even with GSs nerfed and the addition of Comp Bows I still love them. Walls are the only reason i can survive on immortal and deity.

Denmark: not particularly interesting to play and tragically bad AI.

Songhai: Fun to play, strong, and relatively good AI. I love the extra gold in the first handful of turns and after conquest.
