Turtle ship however is not just useless, it's usually even worse than the caravel it replaces

The Winged Hussar is definitely underrated; it's the best fast melee unit in the game. Use its boosted strength (which can be further boosted with promotions from the Ducal Stable) and unique promotion to break formations, or use its extra movement to circle around, cut off retreat, and then deal massive damage. It's one of the few melee units that should be used for more than meatshielding/city-sniping.

Landsknechts suck; post G&K, melee units are just meatshields, so being able to spam them isn't of much help, especially with the bigger strain for gold as a warmonger in BNW.

Sipahi: Yeah, I know, it is the second time I upvote a lancer on this thread, but IMO the Sipahis are worth it. I have a soft spot for fast units, and this one got 5 movement. While the W. Hussar might be better, I love the extra sight this unit has and the free pillaging: you can run through enemy lands and just... rape all their tiles, gaining health and gold. The fact that it sees further is also great on a siege, as you can park them 3 tiles away from a city and allow your cannons to attack without the need of other units. After the city got to 0 health - snap! there goes your 5-movement mounted unit to take it.

Mehal Sefari: Not very useful. 30% strenght is a very good bonus, but why are you fighting around Addis Ababa at the late game? If you are losing terribly, then it might help you (Spirit of Adwa + Nationalism + Mehal Sefari = 65% on your capital), but otherwise... pretty meh. The only thing that saves this is the fact that it's 25 hammers cheaper to produce, if I'm not mistaken. Then again, I'd rather have a N. Ski Infantry (which has a 25% and double movement on HILLS, tundra and snow. most important part of this? Hills!)

Quinquereme... basically just for looks. The best you can do with naval that early is scout and pick off barb naval, and the Quinquereme doesn't have any perks other than higher strength. At least the Dromon gets range.

Picts because no movement to pillage and foreign land bonus. Faith on kill is just icing on the cake and don't mind losing it after upgrade. Upgrades into pikes so you can keep going to Education while still having decent front-line meat shields.

Even if the Impi didn't have a second ranged attack (which is incredibly strong, by the way as it levels up units twice as fast), it would be a nice upgrade on the sole basis that it enables you to spam pikes and not worrying about them turning into lancers, as Impis turn in to riflemen.

Brazil has a severe early-game disadvantage already, and having an infantry replacement as a UU really doesn't help their cause. In addition, the golden age points are generally inconsequential.

No love for the Legion yet? Really?
It's the only Swordsman that's actually stronger than the Pikeman, which otherwise outdo Swordsmen pretty quickly. It's even better in BNW, when Iron is revealed at Bronze Working, so you will at least have a chance of acquiring some of the resources before upgrading your Warriors. To be able to build roads and forts is pretty useful for large empires. You won't have to have as many workers around at least.

The Panzer is just useless... Nobody who wants to win a Domination victory as Germany will wait all the way until Combined Arms to be able to get the best out of the civilization. It's a good unit, don't get me wrong, especially against Infantry, but it's just waaay too late to be useful.

N. Ski Infantry: Is a good Rifleman replacement. +25% combat strenght and free movement on hills is great! Of course, you won't be fighting a lot in the tundra/snow... but it has the Hill bonus, and that's what matters. Also, it has a great synergy with the UA and the other UU (UA means tons of movement by the coast, and this unit has free movement on hills; Berserkers upgrade to this, which means free Amphibious promo).

Ballista: Not very good. A bit of extra strenght, and that's all. I mean, it's ok, but compare it to the Siege Tower, for example... I wish it was stronger. Also, in the early game, I'd rather have some Comp Bowman for my sieges... Not saying it isn't useful, but there are a lot of better units out there, and this one feels just bland. Even their other UU, the Legion, is much more useful: powerful and might build roads...

The Sea beggar is a monster ship if you can use it right, ability to heal outside friendly waters is big.

Chuko is just amazing! The Mandekalu are just weaker versions of conquistadors and not very useful
