Genghis Khan - 19 Genghis has one of the few "sparse" leaderscreens that work very well. It makes sense for Genghis to be on a horse more often than not, and it would be weird for him to be ensconced in an opulent palace.

+1 Ahmad al-Mansur - My votes tend to go to those whose screens are a) unique, and b) very evocative of the world of that leader. Hard not to love the tent in the desert, and the rich costume. Really suits the desert bonus idea.

-3 Alexander - Like so many of the vanilla screen, it feels like the developers phoned it in here. From memory, I can't even remember the difference between Genghis, Alexander, Napoleon, and Oda. That's awful. (I"ll let you decide if the "awful" refers to my memory or to mediocre backgrounds.)

+1 Catherine: Mostly because she has a really nice voice to listen to and she has the funniest lines in the entire game, only next to Monty. Furthermore, the music gives a great atmosphere and the colours match well.

-3 Ramesses: His background is one of the better ones in vanilla, but the bearded man in the middle gives me the creeps, and not funny ones like Monty or Shaka do. Not one of the worst screens per se but never liked talking to this unpleasant character (it's probably the beard... and the voice... and the anachronistic language).

Ramesses II - 0 I've never liked this screen. Not much color variation in it, it's almost all gold and sand. The scowling Douche in the middle doesn't help much either. He never likes me in my games, either he doesn't like my warmongering or I built wonders he coveted, every time. That might bias me a little.

CATHERINE
White dress, white walls, white floors, white windows... Her environment is just too white/white-gold. The lack of variety/diversity just makes the entire scene look completely bland. Catherine's poster is also way too stiff, it makes her look somewhat unnatural, like an uncanny valley type of effect. I DON'T WANT NO STIFF CRAZY EYED ROBOT FLIRTING WITH ME. The composition is also pretty crummy, what with her just standing by the corner. What, was she in time out for 'misbehaving'? ;)

That is clearly Eric XIV, not Gustavus Adolphus. I think they meant to have Eric in the background photo only...but somehow messed up the concept and copied him as the leader. The only thing they got right was the, over the shoulder, sash.

I took them a long while to edit the Kubia Khan/Qin Shi Huang mix up of Civ IV but it eventually happened. I think they need to fix this one.

How does the leader screen with the wrong leader in it not finish last? ha

+1 to Maria I. Awesome voice acting, and everything looks fitting. The leader choice is far from perfect, but the voice actor (while slightly annoying at first) is great.

-3 to Pedro. Just wasn't sure whom to choose, and he's kinda boring. I know he's supposed to be so, but that is not the greatest excuse. At least Washington gets lively from time to time with that globe of his, and he seems to care he declared a war.

Pedro II - 10 + 1 = 11 - What's with the Pedro hate? His leaderscreen is amazingly atmospheric, and certainly far better than a lot of the other leaderscreens. And besides, he looks like Santa Claus.
