Monarch without metals

Just managed first win on Monarch, with Spain on small archipelago map.

What made this difficult was:

No copper, at any stage in game.
No iron, until I'd got gunpowder, military tradition and combustion and built loads of cavalry, grenadiers, destroyers and subs.
Not even aluminium until it appeared in an old mine a few turns from the end.

No rivers.

Not a single farm in my lands all game.

It was fun destroying all Tokugawa's raiding frigates with transport ships. MedicII transports are neat on archipelago maps

Congrats! I'm gonna try monarch as soon I'm finished the prince game I'm currently playing!

Do you have any screenshots, or prehaps a save?

I did have saves, but deleted them in a clear out the other day. If you really want to have a go at it, they can probably be found in the HOF after next update. (Vanilla, Monarch, Time, Normal, Archipelago, Small, Spain.)

Must remember to include such things when posting!
