Disclaimer: I'm not terrific with computers (I can build a house for you from the ground up but computers usually frustrate me  )

I'm looking into getting this laptop almost strictly for Civ V (some Microsoft Office and trolling too :p ) Is this a good computer for Civ V?

Pertinent specs (I think):

- Intel Core I3 (2.40GHz)
- Equipped w/ ATI Mobility HD 5650 dedicated graphics
- 1G video memory
- 4G DDR3

So I've heard.

Would this one be better?

-Intel Core i5
-NVIDIA GeForce 310M
-512 GDDR3
-$80 more expensive

If you want a laptop specifically for Civ5, that one is a very good choice. A i5/7 might be better for programs which make good use of multi-core processors, but Civ5 does not fall into that category. You will feel no difference whatsoever between a i3, i5 or i7 with roughly the same clockspeeds in Civ5.

The 5650 is a solid video card for a laptop, MUCH better than the 310.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it.

don't bother.

many ppl having far better pc spec end up with tons of bugs/crashes with the game.
