Stealth = No Submarine Detection????

I just noticed that Destroyers upgrade to Stealth Destroyers and they lose there ability to spot enemy submarines? Also, I don't believe you can detect other subs with your subs so... What gives?

Did they just totally leave out Submarine detection? Oversight? I'm thinking they released this game waaaay before it was ready.

As far as I know subs can see other subs so after stealth destroyers come online you need attack subs to counter subs. But yeah I dont see the point of stealth destroyers at all. Not only can't they see subs but they wont defend against non stealth units. So if you have a stealth destroyer escorting a transport in a stack and a regular destroyer attacks it, the transport will defend NOT the stealth destroyer.

I don't know about the sub issue but the impression I got from a discussion in the Solver patch thread was that the not defending deal was intentional. So basically if you want to use destroyers and want them to be useful make em before stealth and then dont upgrade em.

according to the text blurb they should be able to see sub's, if you go to the civ pedia entry it says both stealth destroyers an attack subs can spot stealthed units, however in the unit text I'e when u click on these units in the actual game an it shows there abilties up neither has revealing stealth units listed.

And now it seems one of them cant reveal stealth namely the destroyer, which renders it pretty pointless really, along with the missile cruiser another pointless addition really since subs can already carry missiles an it arrives so late, what the game really needs is a very early WW1 fighter to counter airships
 
Seems like a flaw. I'll fix it when my computer returns from repair.

And if I read the reference sheet right, stealth sees stealth, and subs see subs, but that's it. Detecting the subs requires giving away one's position electronically, unless it should be carrying some anti-sub drones or something. Looks like the stealth destroyer is meant to be an air guard and bombarder only. Not defending against non-stealth should be patched though, since the ship appears to carry everything including some anti-sub defense.

The missile cruiser should probably have like a First Strike promotion or something to represent it's anti-ship missiles, and to distinguish it better from the sub and battleship. Actually a missile cruiser should be able to sink a battleship easily, and some battleships were transformed into missile cruisers. Giving it more payload missiles would really mean more Tomahawks, which might be ok, but really a missile cruiser will have lots of anti-ship missiles and anti-missile missiles (should have 1-2 first strikes, and a good intercept bonus versus aircraft, like 50%).
