ok I have been doing some research to see who is gonna make Civilization III since I learned there will only be 16 of the current 21 Civilizations in Civilization III. (I am not happy with this decision)

These are the ones that I have seen will be in and how I know:

I have deleted my contribution to the forum because it is all I can do to show my unhappiness for my Dead Indian thread being closed. It was not spam, It had a purpose, part of it being for us to have fun, the other I hadn't revealed yet. I can see that my opinion in this doesn't matter anyways. I encourage everyone to do whatever they think is neccesary to stop this unneccasry powermongering by the CivFanatics Staff.

Ah, but we *have* seen the French. Check the negotiation screenshot on one of the recent updates (right before the e3 updates, I believe). The player is speaking to a very upset French civilization.

All we need now if for Thunderfall to post NEWSFLASH!! All Civs revealed!

Thanks Little Sicily! That complets it, we now have a complete list! I will update my first post!

Good work BorderPatrol! I have posted a newsflash about it.

Woe is me, tis a sad sad day that the great Mongols have not been included at all.

*sob*
*whimper*
*snivel*

Boo hoo hoo, what were Firaxis thinking? Genghis, it looks like me and you are old hat mate we have been offiially "retired". Hope that you can still find some use for us at civfanatics.

Your messages of sympathy will be gratefully received by this has been.

That is strange because my CGW contains a leader pick of Gandhi in it. Also they're taking out the Mongols?!? That's ridiculous. I mean I was pissed when I saw Celts but I can see that as understandable but the Mongols! Damn.

Now that you mention it... I also remember seeing a picture of Gandhi in the CGW preview:

It looks like we need to refine the list a little bit...

Don't be sad Mongol Horde... That "Japanese" leader portraint could be a Mongol.

WATH!!?!!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!?!? AREN'T THE VIKINGS IN?!?!!

This must be some kind of mistake!

I would say the Russians are definitely in Civ3.

Maybe they took out Native Americans and only have the Aztecs...

So you think that picture is of the Aztec leader? And why do you feel so strongly about the Russians being in?

BTW nobody should take this list as written in stone, it is just an educated guess.

I am shocked to say the least. I would not be suprised to see the Russians booted out by these computerized Fukymaists in a true spirit of triumphalism.
I guess the Vikings, Celts and Carthaginians were on thin ice, even though they have very arguable cases, but the potential omission of the INDIANS and MONGOLS is disgusting and shocking. The Indians in particular are an essential part of human history. At the moment, I'm in the mood to forget this much vaunted 3rd edition, and concentrate on Civ2 for the short while I still play computer games.
I played Civ1 until early 2001, so I have the experience to live in the dark ages if need be. So it will be here it seems, if they take out the Russians. What with India, the Vikings and Celts out( FOR WHAT!!!!!!!) that could be the last straw.
Screw Civ3, I guess. It may offer new gadgets and stuff, but that was never my bag.
I prefer a genuine strategic experience.
They destroyed AD&D with its 3rd edition, and it seems increasingly that Civ3 is turning down a similar, self absorbed road. Great graphics do not the game make, and I have seen little evidence of anything else. The rumoured lack of scen support also bodes ill.
I may be wrong, and would be glad to be so, but this constitutes my last post on a Civ3 forum. I am going to concentrate on Off topic, and getting Civ2 to actually work before it is utterly obsolete.

Well Russia is the biggest country in the world and had the first communist government. They are historically important, especially in modern history.

My guess is that one of the following will not be in:

Native Americans
Aztec
Babylonians
Persians

If Firaxis doesn't have the time to create those animated leaders, why not just use flat portraits for those 5 leaders ommited and keep all the Civs that are in Civ2? It's natural for people expect a sequel to have more of everything... (i.e. more civs, more than 7 civs allowed in a game, more challenging AIs)

I agree with Håkan! And the Dutch aren't in either! This better really be unofficial, 'cause the Dutch belong in it!

But the Russians don't have as large a country now. And historically they weren't around til recent history it seems to me. I think the Russians are out, but I would like to see more evidence supporting the Native Americans, Babylonians, Persians, Japanese, and Spanish civs being in.

Let's do it a little differently...

With strong supporting evidence:

1) Romans - Rome shown, Legion unit
2) Americans - Lincoln shown, F15 fighter unit
3) English - Elizabeth shown
4) Chinese - Mao Tse Tung shown
5) Egyptians - Leader shown, Pyramid
6) Japanese - Leader shown & Samurai unit
7) Native Americans - Leader shown
8) Babylonians - Nippur shown. Hanging Garden wonder
9) Indians - Gandhi shown
10) Zulu - Imp unit announced
11) French - Barter table screenshot
12) Russians - MIG fighters

Without strong supporting evidence:

13) Greeks - Athens shown
14) Germans - Berlin shown
15) Aztec - Ecatepec shown
16) Spanish - Salamanca shown
17) Persians - Persopolis shown
18) Mongols

Despite the lack of conclusive evidence, I would say Greeks, Germans, and Spanish will be in. So the final list is:

1) Romans - Rome shown, Legion unit
2) Americans - Lincoln shown, F15 fighter unit
3) English - Elizabeth shown
4) Chinese - Mao Tse Tung shown
5) Egyptians - Leader shown, Pyramid
6) Japanese - Leader shown & Samurai unit
7) Native Americans - Leader shown
8) Babylonians - Nippur shown. Hanging Garden wonder
9) Indians - Gandhi shown
10) Zulu - Imp unit announced
11) French - Barter table screenshot
12) Russians - MIG fighters
13) Greeks
14) Germans
15) Spanish
16) Persians/Mongols
