We´re not all barbarians

Have we built Kong Miao? Certainly save at least 1 GP for a GA. I'm wondering if we shouldn't revolt to emancipation, its just so civilised it will make our people very happy. Or we could just impose hereditary social stratification.

I guess this is a good time to decide on whether we're going for a cottage economy or a hammer economy.

If we're sticking with Judaism for OR then we probably should spread it round a bit, certainly a missionary apiece to australia and south america.

As for me not being on the roster I am supremely confident of the team's abilities and anticipate we will acheive a peaceful victory long before I would be next up.

Sounds fine to me. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Thank you. I guess I should tell you how I normally play. I tend to try to gain money whenever possible. Then, if I need to get out of a rough spot quick, I simply bribe my way out. Hoarding money like this also allows me to keep a large military (Not very useful here.) I've actually got a game running while I browse these forums, and I was able to sleaze my way out of a war against six countries that had been bribed by France to attack me at once.

Played 10 turns until 1720AD. The highlights are:

- Japan is no more.
- Took representation for 1 turn of anarchy. The empire still really appreciates slavery. :mischief:
- Teched artillery.
- Partially teched both railroad and assembly line and got them both for artillery from Cathy and Mansa respectively.
- Settled some still awful cities in the Amazon. Placed one of them 1N of the indicated sign to be riverside.
- Got some more workers out but we'll need loads and loads both for South America and now also for railroading. First few railroads out (just got RR and AL this same turn).
- Lots of levees done, now it's time for factories.
- WS and IW both 4 turns remaining.
- Note Tokyo (penultimate Japanese city) is under a lot of cultural pressure from Qin. Parked a significant amount of units there to suppress revolt chance. Just got out of revolt from after the conquest and whipped theatre, we'll need to pump some culture here.
- Settled one of the GPrs in Beshba (we already had the shrine), left other for future GA but we'll still need 2 more GPs, of different colours ofc.
- AP resolution came up with only option to stop the war against Sal. Seemed a civilized proposal, but it was voted down.
- Renegotiated quite some resource deals.

Looking good :).

Lots of workers needed indeed. There's still space for couple of filler cities in south america, if we don't grab them the AI will.

I'm wondering about combustion>flight to facilitate travel around our somewhat dispersed union of socialist republics.

LK is UP

randyrules is on deck.

In the queue

Thought I would have a quiet night - LOL

1720 AD
I do a bunch of map trading. I confirm one more Incan town in South America, but not much more.

Kyoto has 9 water tiles, and only needs 9 turns to build Moai. With a base production of 17 already, this will become a decent shield city.
I put Korea on confused missionary duty. If we have the shrine and Wall Street we may as well spread our religion.
(IT) Despite the large garrison, Tokyo suffers a Chinese revolt.

1725 AD
(IT) Civilized doesn't mean we are fools - America doesn't get democracy.

Summary:
We are so light on workers everywhere, but SA needs them the most. We have way too much junk to clear to lovely watermills. Currently being shuttled to SA is 7 workers, settler pair, and 2 Jewish missionaries.
There is a galleon with a rifle heading to Australia, to fill in the missing MP in a city down there. Have him pick up 3 workers near Hurrian for SA. Australia has too many workers. Australia will run out of tasks soon. The rail-net is already mostly done. I suspect all Australian workers will wind up in SA soon enough.
We could divert the settler to New Zealand to join up with the work boat and claim the whale / crab city.

I guess that means I'm up. As it is a level a bit higher than I normally play at, I must say I'm a bit nervous that I'll screw something up. Better pay attention to EVERYTHING. It'll probably go better than I think, considering I don't have to play long enough for attention to detail to get tedious.

I hope I did well enough. Half the time I really felt like I was pressing buttons just to see what happened. But, I think everything went well.

I mainly focused on turning the empire into a giant factory. Turning up production wherever possible. I also tried to help the economy and hoard money as I always do. Finally, I sent a settler down towards the southern tip of SA, hoping to strike riches in the hills.

Not much happened internationally, but I can say that Egypt is f***ed

TL;DR: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING!

Weird - no date in the above save name. The date is 1810AD.
Hurrain has 2 units; please send one to Mand (the city with no MP).
I have no idea why all the workers in Australia show 2 movement points left. Please send the ones on the west coast east. Let us finish up the rail-net, and then ship them to SA where they are badly needed.

A lot of the galleons of SA have movement left - please start sending back to Korea. We need them for the next round of shipping.
There are 3 workers south of Ulaan with movement left. SA has a ton of worker actions - please get them doing something.
I had workers heading toward Choybalsan - we need jungle cleared there a lot more the rails in SA. A thin rail-net is all we need for now. We need those watermills up if SA will have value. Also, the granary should have been whipped. No reason to work a horrid 1F, 1C tile.

Kazan now has two watermills complete. It is time for the city to start growing - please switch from gems to a watermill.

What was the goal with Hermitage in Otrar? You didn't give any report to give me a why. That city has no cultural pressure.

just took a quick glance.

Things are looking very good :D

one question
why bantu is still barabarian?

same remarks:
whip was designed to be used, next player should whip some things ^^
agree with LK, hermitage need to be stoped

next player imhotepbut seems not not available at this point.
after that it is cripp7

randyrules if you "HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING" then you could posted this before you started your set and then people would likely have made various suggestions. However there's nothing seriously wrong with the game though I am also perplexed by Hermitage which may have been more useful elsewhere.

However all of this pales into insignificance compared to our collective flock up: we have no oil! I discovered this when I thought about upgrading galleons to transports. Well, we do have watery oil in the phillipines but that would need plastics. There is also unclaimed oil in Alaska but that is relatively unaccessible. Catwoman has spare oil but won't gift or trade it.

Other minor details: we're paying unit maintenance with a lot of obselete units.

On the other hand we're top of the pops on land and manufactures so long term it ain't too bad.

As for the save name, I always name my save to make them easier to remember.
A lot of us download each game save. With playing multiple SGs, it is harder to keep things straight without a date.

For Oil problem:
There is an oil source in the BFC of the barbarian city of Bantu (north of South America)
The only problem is that we will have to fight culture of french on this tile.

We have no reply of mhotep or cripp7 :(

In case of no reply of these, I'm the next on the list but can't play before saturday I think.

I hadn't noticed Bantu tbh. I'm not sure how up to date our maps are, south america looks fairly well fogbusted so we could spare some mounted units to take a look. If its still there and not overwhelmed by french culture then razing Bantu and putting a city 1SE one tile from the oil could resolve the oil problem. Not guaranteed but worth having a look though would need a settler of course.

Roster wise we'll wait until Saturday for cripp or immy to make an appearance otherwise astre's enthusiasm shall be rewarded with the next set.

I still have no Internet (following and posting in the game threads from my smartphone).
