Team Free Embassy

:agree: I'd love it if FREE intervened to help us... but if our situations were reversed, I'd probably argue against helping them! lol

Since I don't like to think of myself as hypocritical, I guess I have to just call FREE self-interested.

It's not FREE that bothers me. It's SABER who continues to bomb us to prevent us from winning while leaving FREE free to build their space ship. It will be interesting to see whether they know FREE has Apollo or not.

Will play our turn now.

I see no one agreed with my alcohol fueled ramblings :sigh:

Dear Wise People of The Council,

We spot a threat to your southern shores and the giant task force to
the north west suffers from a mis-click.

Mis-click? I wonder if that has anything to do with SABER having one less aircraft carrier in that stack? :hmm:

Dear Wise People of The Council,

The giant task force has moved north. Overall, Saber looks like it is
looking for a FREE snack. A bit early to know for sure, but fireworks
could start next turn.

Another update from team FREE:
Dear Wise People of The Council,

Saber is definetly focused on Free. We can find 23 of their 24
transports and all 23 are sailing into our territorial waters. Two
are aiming at the small island between our fair nations and 18 are 6
south of Fortress of Meleet with 3 more not very far away.

We expect a battle log with the next game turn.

While the unblinking eye of Sauron Saber is gazing at Free, now
is the time for you to grab victory quickly, if you can.

Sincerely yours,

Art Parry

Feel a little bad for FREE... but this is certainly good news.
Should we reply? What would we even say?

I wouldn't say anything. Saber is going to do the same to Free that they did to us. (Threaten coastal cities and bomb production centers working on the spaceship.) Maybe now we'll be left alone to clear our tiles.

Perhaps a polite response of 'brothers in arms' solidarity wouldn't be out of place?

I don't feel bad for them, but it doesn't cost us anything to look like we feel bad ;)

Agree with peter, it never hurts to be friendly.

Proposed response:

Dear Brothers in Blue,

Our joy at the break in the bombing is certainly mingled with sorrow that you're now in for a very unpleasant experience.

As we are able to slowly crawl out of the rubble (assuming Saber does actually allow this), rest assured, we will do anything in our power to assist you.
Don't give up hope!

It may be small comfort, but knowing we had you as allies kept us going through the dark days... we hope our unwavering friendship will offer the same hope to you. Things can always change suddenly.
By hook or by crook, together we'll see the Orange menace vanquished.

To a blue world... or at least leaving the Oranges behind on the wreck of this one,

Dear Wise People of The Council,

The unpleasantness of war we have have tasted. Saber has attacked.
We lost part of our Navy; they lost one (1!) Stealth Bomber.

That is not the bad news. We wish it were.

The Manhattan Project was built in Baldric, Saber.

Nukes are now in play.

Yeah, ICBMs and all that.

There may not be time to build a space ship.

There might be time for a Diplomatic (UN) solution, with either you or
us being voted world leader.

Saber controls 37% of the world's area, so we cannot gift one of us
into a Domination win.

Nukes are a wild card and a scary one at that. We trust The Council
with Nukes much more than we trust Saber with Spears.

Nukes make invasion a whole lot easier; target the city, hit it, watch
the mushroom cloud and phoof! all the defenders are gone. Land
one Marine, capture the city and then unload 20 transports...

Saber has no nukes at the present, so maybe we are overreacting.

But we are concerned.

We eagerly await your insights into this radioactive situation.

Sincerely yours,

So this explains why we didn't get a battle log. Trouble is SABER most likely had enough gold to sabotage all our prebuilds.

Should we tell CommandoBob about our strategy of abandoning coastal cities?

We ought to yes. And abandoning coastal cities is something we should suggest to them.

Let's hope SABER honors their ages-old non-nuke agreement with us. If not, at least we can be righteously angry if we lose. ;)

I doubt SABER would have sabotaged our builds this turn, we're still a number of turns off and they know it. But we should definitely start counting probabilities on exposing spies vs number of turns left.

Proposed note for rapid release:
Dear Blue Brothers,

This is gave and terrible news indeed. We wish it were unexpected.

The "clear a coastal city of units, then invade" scenario you outlined is, of course, very worrisome and all too real. Although nukes only make that tactic easier... Saber could do the same thing with enough of their bombers. When we were under immediate threat of this tactic, we began disbanding coastal cities that were within reach of Saber's transports. A painful defensive move, to be sure, but better than the alternative.

We don't know if you're already contemplating such a move - but we thought we'd share how we handled the threat, just in case. We disbanded threatened coastal cities and built barricades like crazy to isolate potential landing zones. Saber mostly neutralized the barricade strategy by turning every tile on our continent into rubble... but the city disbanding (apparently) helped deter them from making an actual invasion.

We wish we had a more palatable suggestion for dealing with the threat.

Also, more good news (and we can't recall if we've shared this info with you previously or not) - but you should know that Saber has at least one Marine army on their transports, so be prepared for that.

Is it even feasible for one of us to get the UN in time to matter?

:wallbash: if only we had some meaningful construction capabilities left so that we could help fight back! If YOU have any brilliant ideas, please don't hesitate to suggest them.
These are desperate times - we shouldn't overlook any radical idea.
