Football Thread No. 9

I was merely pointing out that in 1934 and 1938 Benito himself caused the ref trouble, thus invoking the trope. :p

Opinions on ENGs performance last night lads and ladies?

The Netherlands trashed Northern-Ireland with 6-0! The Northern-Irish performance was abysmal though. It did have a very nice goal from van Persie.

Bielsa has now officially renewed his contract with Atheltic Bilbao! But anyone who knew he had renewed his videoclub membership could've figured it out.

Not good. They won.

England is going to have a lot of problems if all these injuries just keep piling up, although maybe it's good for them, then they can blame the injuries when they get knocked out in the group stages.

Not that I want that, I have them in the QF in my football pool.

Meeesssiii, Meeesssiii! Best player in the world, dammit! Beats being the most handsome.

Yep, he renewed videoclub membership and residence permision before the contract. Everyone but the press did know he was renewing. OK, the press also know it, but they had to sell papers.
Efforts in Athletic are now directed to Fernando Llorente, he finishes contract 30th June 2013, apparently club is offering him 4.5M €/season but he wants 5.5, however Athletic Club never speaks about salaries with press...
I am rather pessimistic with this renewal right now, if there is no agreement after eurocup, I think that club will consider putting him up for sale.
If he leaves perhaps Aritz Aduriz (Now in Valencia) will come back again to Athletic club. Maybe Aduriz cames back again even if Llorente continues.

BTW, I heard that Glasgow Rangers has been dissolved today, anyone can give further info? Is it true that it happened due to debts with treasury? Just like in La liga :mischief:

Another crakcer between Australia and Japan ends in a 1-1 draw. It's becoming a big rivalry actually. We kicked three goals in ten minutes to beat them in the 2006 world cup, they beat us for the last AFC title.

I'd imagine that this will keep doing so as long as we're the two best teams in Asia, and end up our biggest rivalry.

We're in the same 5-team group for qualification, the top two progress and the third goes through playoffs. The return qualifier against Japan doesn't happen for another year, so it'll be a while before we know what's going to happen. Iraq could still spoil our party.

This is the table for the second division so far. The first two get promoted (first is champion), the third and fourth are sent to playoffs against the first division's worst team.

Now… River Plate lost today, Quilmes and Instituto won, Rosario Central play tomorrow. Yet the First Division clubs insist that returning to the 'obsolete' year-long, double-round-robin tournaments would 'damage' football because there's always a single runaway team that hogs all the points and is the champion months before it ends. Wrong again! Case in point, the season before last, the top five teams in the first division, in the last fortnight:

Strange, eh? And these people control FIFA.

I was reading about Argentina's league system and what a farce it is...

Crazy place Latin America, no wonder you live there tak!

I rant about it all the time. Proof you don't read my posts Quacks!
Right now we have the very real possibility of a team being champions -while not being the team with the most points in the year of course- and being relegated. At the same time. Or in playoffs. Or winning the title playoff then losing the relegation playoff and being strippped (or not) of the title.

Ech.

Oh christ Blatter demands that GLT should be introduced after the England-Ukrainian game. Where was his voice two years ago? He hates the English...like Platini and UEFA..all hate us!

He blows with the wind, like a weathervane.

Another blot against UEFA is how racist chanting gets a lower fine then exposing your PaddyPower boxers when you score a goal...
