Quick Questions and Answers

Thanks.

I seem to be having a problem with my money. I should be getting around 24 gold per turn, but I'm only getting 4. I noticed this when I went from 600 gold all the way down to 0 then it's very slowly going up in 4s and 3s, I'm not aware of any extra costs that I can see. This is really annoying and is hampering the game. Help please :)

Unit, building and tile improvement (road/rr)) maintenance will rise constantly unless you have all cities on Science/Gold conversion.
Also you might see the gpt drop and rise randomly due to the governors switching worked tiles around for specialists or other tiles from turn to turn.

I have a couple of mods installed. the VEM and the unoffcial patch along with infoaddict and civwillard. it's not that my gold isn't go up now, it's the fact that I should be getting 30 gold a turn and I'm not. And the fact that in 9 turns my gold went from 600 to 0. I'm friends with a city state could that be it?

not sure where else to post this, I don't want to create a thread for one quick question.

My first game building guided missiles, but I've noticed that I can't seem to rebase them to other cities. Is this a bug or feature? Can you not put guided missiles in other cities? Or can they only go on naval vessels? I was pretty sure I was able to do it once my game, but after that it wouldn't let me rebase them to another city (close to the front lines).

Rebasing has a range. You might need to rebase it to a closer city first and then on the next turn rebase it a second time to it's final destination. Same with bombers/etc. Note sure how large the rebaserange is; I believe it's constant for all units (not depending on their base movement range).

Hey guys quick question, is there any way to make the city banners smaller, or even static when i zoom. When i back out all the way i see is a mesh of city banners, i would love to see the landscape of my empire. And if they were smaller i could see my units as well, Having these banners smaller would help in every aspect now that i think about it. In the you tube videos of people playing they seem to have them banners smaller then my own.

I couldn't find anything on the subject, so might as well ask if anyone can help me with this. My problem is Mt. Fuji. I'm trying to win a cultural game with England, and have settled a city right next to Mt.Fuji. Now that I'm in Industrial era, I've noticed that the tile only produces 1 gold and no culture. It did produce the 5 culture as promised earlier in the game, but now it's vanished in thin air. Does it go obsolete at some point or is this a bug? The Skilldorado on another landmass is producing 10 culture. Isn't that supposed to be 5? I have the Freedom SP tree finished, but the finisher shouldn't affect Natural Wonders, should it?

I'm not using any Mods and should have the latest update.

Apologies if this has been already answered, but my search-fu couldn't find it:

How can I see what social policies the AI civs have adopted?
And am I the only one that's bugged by maritime city-states often being nowhere near the ocean?

You can't see exactly WHICH policies they adopt, but you can see which branches and how far they are within each branch by going into the Diplomatic Overview and clicking on the THIRD tab.

know, it will tell you something like this
PIety : 4
Honor : 5
Traidtion : 1

Only once they adopt at least a single policy within a tree will it show up (so if they do not adopt any of the policies within Liberty, lIberty won't show).

I actually stopped caring about Maritime being near ocean.. it make sense enough to consider them a "Food providing" city state.

On the Diplomatic large screen, the rightmost tab will show how many policies each civ has in each of the trees. As far as what specific policies in each tree, that information does not seem to be available as far as I know.

I usually play Continents maps. Rarely or never do I see any City States not on the coast. What maps are you playing on? If you let the forum know, maybe someone else can help you.

Edit: I see someone beat me to it.

Sorry is this has been asked before, but I am play V for the first time today. I played every version, but my old computer could not handle V. New computer. How do you tranfer units across oceans? All the transport units are gone. Do I have to get access to cross through everybody's land to reach the far side of a large continet? Thanks for your help. G

You need Optics to be able to move land units into Coast tiles, and then another technology to be able to move them across Ocean tiles.

So is there no solution to my problem? Am i just stuck with gigantic city banners that fill the whole map even on the largest resolution settings?

Hey ComradeFC, I was looking into that, and I could not find a solution for that eaither. Just alot of zooming in and out. I have another question, why is the wimdow the game is in is square, and like rectngular like in IV? And you can't expand the window either? Maybe it is just my laptop screen. G

It's actually a recntagle too.

1280x1024 is a rectangle, you just can't see it. It depends on the resolution you're working with.

I just ordered the game and would like to know if there is a way to create your own Civ? Maybe Egypt's wonder construction bonus with, Longbowmen as your special unit for example.
