Can the leader heads be turned off?

Hi, Ive started a game with some people at work but the computer i play on isnt very good, it slows to a crawl and often crashes when a leader head pops up.

Is there any easy way to turns these off?

Its hard trying to play without talking to the indians.

You could replace the LH with static art. It's not too bad but it is some work. You can not disable the LH display otherwise.

Are there any guides on how to do that?

and would i still be able to play with people that havent?

Generally speaking you just re-reference the LH art in Assets\XML\Art\CIV4ArtDefines_Leaderhead.xml to static files.
But there might be some pecularity i am not aware of, so better ask in Civ4 Creation & Customization forum - there are a few Mod's / People who did that...
