So what was the best solution for "Civ 5 has stopped working"?

I've gone through some of the threads which addresses the problem but it seems everyone has a different way of solving it.In one thread http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=382282
the solution wasn't even mentioned.What is the best solution for the problem?

I tried running it under DX9 and DX11(DX10 not available) but the screen is still black and it gives me the same message "Sid Meier's Civilization 5 has stopped working"
