Star of the Shogun: Realpolitik

Well, after reading The Answer to The Life, the Universe and Everything Else worth of pages, I'd like to ask a few questions:
Can I join this late?

It's never to late! I joined my First RP only one election before it ended!

What can a player do, besides being a politician? (i.e.: An investigator who can use his skills to find out about crimes, or a spy for other players)

Well, the primary focus is politics, being Realpolitik and all. :p Everything else you can do is really a sideshow, and you should probably only be doing it for political reasons.

How much skilled at CiV itself would you recommend me to be before playing RP?

I played less than one game before giving up civ 5 forever, but I'm the 5th most active player. You dont need to know ANYTHING!!! :D (Of course, it is good if you understand what the basic concepts of the game are, but I think thats just assumed since you're on CFC :p)

Spoiler :
Oh god, it's 4:15 AM, what am I doing awake?

You're a civ-fanatic. By joining this site you have given up on Real Life. :assimilate:

Draft Plan said:
Social Policy: Liberty > Collective rule
Tech: Finish Archery > Writing > BW > IW
Builds in Kyoto: Finish Stoneworks > archer > archer > library (purchase if we have the money)
current warriors: continue to scout.

I'd like to replace the second archer with a monument, or possibly move the libaray to 'buy as soon as we have the money' status, but other than that it looks good. This plan is acceptable to me. :goodjob:

First: This is more than can be completed in one term. An Archer will take about 18 turns to finish, and a Library more like 24.

Second: This is too much military. In ciV, cities do not need units defending them, as they can do this themselves. Archers are only useful in battles involving fortified positions, so the second Archer cannot be used unless it is to defend Copenhagen for some reason. Units cannot be stacked.

If you must build two units in this term, I recommend replacing the second Archer with a Scout.

I have personal disagreements with the Social Policy choice, because I personally believe Tradition is overall better to take advantage of the unique benefits of ciV. And it's better for a communist state.

I have no quarrels with the technology choice.

I agree that we should go with Liberty, as Liberty facilitates the generation of culture, and thus, the natural expansion of our borders. Nevermind that!
I suggest we skip one of the archers and go for the Library ASAP, to increase our technology earning early on, giving us a (even if slight) advantage

Umm...Liberty encourages the founding of new cities, which directly harms national culture.

Why dont you join the logical super coalition that wants communism, expansion colonialism and techmology?

Because, I announce the official incorporation of the Party for the Advancement on Culture and Knowledge into the Coalition for the Advancement of Japan.

So, it's done.

They may leave if they want.

Yes, but it would be quite stupid to leave in the very same moment you have been accepted.

Why dont you join the logical super coalition that wants communism, expansion colonialism and techmology?

You maen other than the fact that that coalitions goals are less compatible with their own? Perhaps the fact it's so big that its already ineffeiciant, and each new party will only make individual parties less important? Perhaps the fact that it lost? Perhaps the fact it hasn't got a chance of staying together in the long run?

Any of those work as reasons?

No. If it is for the good of the nation then nothing is stupid.

ooc: I wonder why i protect the opposition coalition morre than even its own members.

But you can't know it if you haven't even tried to play. He is aware of all the events that ever happened here and he has decided to join the CAJ. Let him try before asking him to leave.

OOC: You do because we have done nothing to the opposition, so they aren't upset with us as you are because we kicked you.

IC: I think i just dreamt, because I saw the dead christos and talked to him.

I am the spirit of Christos. :mwaha:

Oh, sorry. I mix up Liberty and Freedom ALL THE TIME. fixed.

Piety, but ok xP

Freedom is for nations with a specialist economy.

I don't approve of the Liberty tree much.

It's because I'm not actually in the coalition! :crazyeye: I'm an Independant!

No. If it is for the good of the nation then nothing is stupid.

OOC: Dum de Dem De Dum... :)

Nobody said anything was stupid. And joining the ASP is not garunteed as being good for the nation. In fact, you don't give any reasons why it would be for the good of the nation. IMO, the ASP being made bigger is actually against the interest of the nation, since it will increase the level of discussion before the opposition actually does anything. Sure, maybe joining the CAJ isn't the best for the nation either, but at least it makes sense for the party.

In fact, to be perfectly honest I don't really agree with any of the current coalitions, I only went along with ASP because they were agreeing to give me a post. If not for that, then I probably wouldn't have voted for anyone.

Well at least it seems to have calmed down in here. I'm glad you have set a deadline Jehoshua, you can't wait forever and I want this game to advance!

*Grumbles and traipse's back into the woods*

While Sparthage is away, I am taking up the mantel of Opposition Leader. I might not be on that much but that doesn't really matter since the plan is almost done.

Thus I showcase the following for public scrutiny

Social Policy: Liberty > Collective rule
Tech: Finish Archery > Writing > BW > IW
Builds in Kyoto: Finish Stoneworks > archer > archer > library (purchase if we have the money)
current warriors: continue to scout.

This isn't a stupid plan, but it is not the best one for Japan. However, this plan doesn't have anything shockingly wrong with it, so I will let it pass.

:D

On behalf of the PACK, I declare we are glad to be accepted to the CAJ, and I wish to declare that Japan can trust us if they wish for progress. Our children shall be educated not only to learn our culture, but to innovate and make it even better. Knowledge is power.

The plan looks pretty good, agree with the sentiment that we don't need two archers.

Having listened to the feedback, and considering no one in the coalition has expressed serious problems with the plan. I promulgate, enact and give to Light Hearter to play with the following plan.

-

THE FINAL PLAN

-

Tech: finish archery > writing > BW > IW
Social Policy: liberty
Constructions: finish stoneworks > archer > library > monument
Money: purchase library if we have the money to do so before construction of library starts, if not purchase an archer at soonest opportunity
current warriors: continue to scout

-

I have separated spending from the build order. I have deleted the construction of a second archer although I have decided to place the possibility of one being purchased instead of the library. The reason for the desire for a second unit is to have an escort ready when we have a third settler from collective rule. As to orders going beyond the timeframe of a term, well yes they probably do, better safe with orders that will certainly take longer to implement then my term than to align them perfectly now and find that there is empty space at the end of my term where there is nothing ordered.

As to Nukes social policy concerns, personally I would go liberty to get the cheaper workers, and the free settler. Then I would go to tradition to develop that. Hopefully my successor government when the time comes will do a similar thing.

WORKER ORDERS:

Tambien, who's responsibility is such things, will provide worker orders when he gets online. However just in case he takes forever (I hope not) I will place temporary worker orders that are to be followed should Tambien fail to deliver an agenda in due time. He may of course keep it if he wishes though :p
