Best Ideology for Venice?

So, which ideology do you guys think is best for Venice?

Order - great level 1 traits if you have a lot of cities. Hero of the People is cool, +2 happiness per monument is great, Skyrappers is insane (add Big GabeN and Commerce to buy every building you wish), Workshop/Plant/Factory happiness is great.

Level 2 has some useless ones. Resettlement (+3 pop in new cities) is absolutely useless for you. More happiness traits, cool. Stuff to help you in tourism and culture. Great. Five Year Plan is great if you have many cities and mines/quarries.

Completely horrible level 3 traits (except +34% tourism one, but you're unlikely to be more happy than the enemy at more than Emperor difficulty, which makes it a questionable choice) which are all inferior to level 1 tenets, Courthouse one seems useless (you can't annex), +10 science/can engineer space ships is just awful compared to buy space ship parts for money.

Kremlin is the worst wonder though. Tanks aren't that great, and you can only produce units in Venice. Still, a free Social Policy is added to this, so...

Freedom will help you too. Oh, But Specialist half food consumption/unhappiness isn't too good, because as Venice I can just laugh at food when directing about 10 food routes to Venice, easily ending game with 60+ pop in there, and if you have many cities, Order will give you much, much more happiness while buffing all areas of your play.

Foreign Legions gotten fast are very hard to counter no matter what civ you play, but overall nice level 2 tenets. New Deal is No Deal for me, because Custom Houses are and always were awful, and I did not have too many Great Person Improvements.

Much better level 3 tenets and a superior unique Wonder. Freedom is a better choice if you didn't... borrow as many cities from other civs as I typically do in my playthroughts, or if you really want to end the game with 70+ pop instead of 60+ pop.

Didn't try out Autocracy Venice yet. I doubt it would be as good as Freedom/Order, but it may be okay. Still, no +25% great people generation trait? Kinda crappy if you ask me. I love late game MoV spams with +33% scientist/engineer/merchant generation Congress decision.

I have finished with Freedom and Autocracy. I haven't tried Order. Autocracy was OK, there was some happiness in their IIRC. Taking Freedom is virtually a lock on SoL.

Autocracy:
unit cost reduction combined with Gunboat Diplomacy, maybe?

Enrico Swagolo, your name got me laughing
Anyways, i picked Autocracy in my last Venice game and won a diplo VC. Gunboat Diplomacy was fun but I think the Freedom tenet (forgot the name lol) where you get +4 from trade routes is better. When going for diplo, you should consider Freedom rather than Autocracy.
The latter helped me defend against all of the Order guys who attacked me all at the same time, though. The tourism boost when a great artist is born also helps, because Shaka and me were the only ones with Autocracy and if it weren't for that tenet, my puppets would sure as hell have revolted.

Gunboat Diplomacy seems meh, because even as a complete-absolute Venetian Runaway on Emperor with way too many troops and too much gold, only city states that saw my great army near their borders feared me. You'd need to have several units near every city state if you wanted that +6 influence, and that'd end up more trouble (and money per turn spent) than it's worth.

I used freedom in my only Venice game, and Economic Union and Treaty Organization are just insane. New Deal and everythingspecialist related is also quite good. I haven't tried Order with Venice, but it seems very strong if you have many puppets. The abiity to buy Factories and take full advantage of Worker's Faculties is a big plus. Skyscraper also looks like an ideal tenet, but while very useful it's actually not as borderline OP as I first thought. It seems the cost reduction is multiplicative with Big Ben and Mercantilism. Youn only get a discount of 60% instead of the 73% you would have if you added the bonuses together.

Freedom. 20 trade routes + Treaty Organization = All your city states are belong to us. Add in Arsenal of Democracy to gift the units you get from your military city states to city states under threat.

I've always done Freedom. The Specialist half food cost means for trade routes go to gold making. There is a lot of useful stuff in freedom for Venice. I never found it a hard choice.

I went with Freedom and never looked back.
The tier one stuff gave me about+20 happiness from U. Healthcare and Capitalism.
+25% GP birth running full specialist gave me a new great person every couple of turns.
+1culture per GWA/M/W gave me an insane cultural edge, I was getting SP every 5-7 turns
Half Happiness and Food for specialist just put my empire into overdrive (I was running full specialist slots, with all 6 of the guild ones going, so every little bit helps)
Arsenal of Democracy allowed me to pump up Subs/Missile cruiser at a reasonable rate to protect my shipping lanes
New Deal- I wish it was the old freedom finisher of double, but 5 settled academies at +4 each =+20 science
Volunteer Army-Used Half of the FL (3) to gift to city states that were on the cusp of ally
Treaty Organization- Guaranteed Diplo Win
Broadcast Towers- Insured my Ideology was putting the rest in a stranglehold!

I went Order in my Venice game because I wasn't the first to the Ideology party and some mighty strong civs had already chosen it.

I only had 18 trade routes at the end of the game but still had more money than I could spend, all the CSs were mine without question or challenge for the last 50 turns of the game, and since I had 5 puppets (4 CSs and Carthage) there were some nice side benefits.

Really, I think Venice can get away with any of the 3.

My puppet cities don t buid factories...I have 7 coals....what is the problem....

Puppets generally won't build buildings that require strategic resources. That includes factories, hydro dams, etc. But as Venice, you can buy in those cities.
